Auto to Manual Conversion? Has It Been Done.
Hey all,
I've got an 05 GT (auto) that I've modded a bit since new with wheels, tune, intake, full exhaust (including LT headers); and have been toying with the idea of building the car into more of a weekender with some serious power.
I realize that the auto transmission could handle a supercharger, but I wouldn't get the fun of a stick shift....I also realize that it would be a heck of a lot easier to sell the car and buy one with a standard transmission, but I'm not prepared to do that.
So, question is.....has it been done / is it possible? If so, does anyone have any idea as to what parts are different between a 5 speed car and an auto?
Also; the other thought I had with potentially doing this conversion is rather than just throwing the 5 speed in there....seeing if I can find a wrecked GT500 and putting the 6-speed from that in to make the car more future proof for high horsepower. With the computer being as finicky as it is....would this be a much more significant job than just gettign parts from a regular GT.

Doing a 6 speed would be about as easy as a 5 speed. I'm switching from manual to auto so if you want to by my tr3650 in a few weeks, it'll be up for sale. It does need a rebuild though.
