it took me a real long time to finally decide to get them, i thought they were going to make the car annoying to drive in normal traffic, and make the rpms really high while cruising on the highway. well i was 100% wrong, the car is EASIER to drive in stop and go traffic, and you will barely notice any difference in rpms once your cruising in 5th, except you can pass w/o downshifting. my car hauls major *** now. this was one of the best mods i have done, and i have pretty much every bolt on possible. don't be skurred to go with 4.10s. forget 3.73s. i cant belive how much it has woken the car up!

 

Yup, they're a great choice.

 

I love driving down a two lane highway and passing traffic without shifting gears. Just put your foot on the gas pedal and away you go.

 

I am curious, what bolt-ons have you done that has given you 322rwhp

 

intake, 93 sniper dyno tune, underdrive pulleys, alum driveshaft, american racing LT headers w/catted x, flowmaster mufflers. i think thats it, as far as performance

 

Nice,would that be like 400 at the crank. Also does an alum driveshaft just free up weight.

 

i definetly felt a difference when i slapped that in. less rotating weight!

 

might be a bit off topic, but does anyone know if going from stock gears to 4.10's actually make the car faster in the 1/8 mile, or 1/4 mile, or 0-60? My car sure feels like it has alot more pep now, but I wonder if it's actually much quicker? I don't race or drag race, so I don't really know.

Why is it easier to drive in stop and go traffic?

 

If you look at some of his mods, he has lowered his parasitic loss by using a underdrive pulleys and an aluminum driveshaft. So would 18% parasitic loss be accurate? It seems his parasitic loss would be less.

I drive mostly freeway to work, albiet in traffic most of the time but on weekends i cruise relativly unhindered by it and drive through canyons as well.... not like a crazy man.

its a 15% loss for manuals give or take and a 20% for autos.

and it is 322x1.15 because 1.00 would be his current level because anything times 1 is the starting number .15 is 15% so 1.15 is the starting number plus 15 % in this case 322rwhp is 370.3 at the crank

 

I'm not quite sure what it is at 50mph, but at 60mph I'm at 2000rpm, at 80mph I'm at 3000rpm. I'd guess around 1500rpm for 50mph?

That's on an auto, not sure how different it will be on a stick

 

you can let the rpms get real low in stop and go traffic, and instead of having to downshift, now you can just gas it.

the speed is about 5mph lower in all gears.

i have the powerhouse alum driveshaft.

its not 5mph faster in all gears. 1st gear is about 5mph slower, second is about 9mph slower, third is about 14mph slower, and 5th is about 27mph slower. this is at 6000 rpm for all gears. reference the chart
