Anyone taken the stock mufflers apart?

I think I've posted this before a couple of years ago... often you can slice a stock can open and run a bypass through a few chambers or remove a thing here or there, do some expirimenting, and get a nicer sound for "free". Hardly worth it with the cheap aftermarket stuff, but there are probably more crafty folks out there like myself.
