Has anyone done this? I use my seats sometimes, (well, others use them ) but if I were to take it out, what should I expect? 1/4 time? 0-60 time? Weight? Thanks!

I never use my rears. Is it necessary to remove the fronts first?

Honestly, I don't know. I know how to fold the seats down, but haven't tried removing them. I really wonder if it will make a noticeable difference in driving/acceleration?

The rear seat is aprox. 40 Ibs. Every 100 Ibs lost is about 1/10 th lowered off your E/T's...It all adds up but it is a lot of work to properly lighten a car.

I haven't even sat in them yet with the exception of cleaning the rear window but I have plans to add some weight there temporarily (bouncing) before I consider removing them . . . .

I think that you should have a lot more weight taken out in areas that don't show before you go gutting the interior. IMO a street car that is fast appears cooler/faster when all of the interior components are remaining, otherwise wihen people look at your car they go assuming that it is closer to a gutted race car. The seat comes out easily, remove it at the track for a run or two considering your times are within .05 seconds of each other then you may notice a difference. Like Justin said weight does = increased ET, it is actually 75lbs per 1/10th of a second. IMO it is better to have the tank on fumes, like 10 miles to empty or less because gasoline weighs 6.25lbs per gallon at 72 degrees and gets heavier as it gets cooler. Weight savings, full tank = 100lbs, 1/4 tank = 25lbs, fumes = win.

I agree with Derek...I get so sick of going to the track and watching all the ricer's that are completely gutted w/donut's on the rear's still running 15's.... It feels good to beat them with leather seats, power windows and A/C.

Did you have to take a front one out to get them out of the car? How are they attached?
Thanks

I must be missing something cause I pulled out the foam cushion and it def was not more than 15 lbs. Are you all taking the seatbacks out also?

Nice write-up, HOWEVER, isn't it true the car runs WORSE with low gas/fumes? I think thats reasonable, AND ive personally felt it a couple times....when my tank nears empty, i feel an IMMENSE loss in performance.
