I am looking to uprade the brakes on my GT. I was looking at either the PowerSlot or DBA rotors with the Hawk HPS pads. Or possibly spending some more money and getting the Baer EradiSpeed + rotors.

Does anyone have any experience with these or have any suggetions?

Thanks

I have been looking around and was pondering if this will work: http://www.buyfordracing.com/shop/product_...products_id=541

I know the offset will be off and I haven't done any measurements. You might even have to make custom brackets, but for the price this is a steal. The rotors are 13" so they should fit under 17s.

Well the GT500 kit isn't out and requires 18s. The Brembo kit for the 05 GT is something like 2K for the fronts and also requires 18s. I want something that fits under 17s for snow tires.

2005 Mustang GT Brembo Upgrade - 1 Piece Rotor
$1995 Buy Now
- Brembo 4 piston calipers
- Brembo drilled or slotted one piece rotor 14 Inches
- Brembo high performance brake pads
- Brembo billet aluminum brackets

Don't know how competitve SHM prices are, but it's a decent amount of money. The 00 R brakes are 4 Piston Calipers as well. If this will work, it's a cheap BBK that might work under the stock 17s. BTW, you save money on the 00 R Kit if you chose blank rotors, which I would. My friend's race shop can build caliper brackets, so I am considering this.

I have the Baer GT plus front kit and all I can say is it is a big improvement over the stock setup. This can be attributed to the larger rotor surface (14"), braided lines, and larger 2 piston caliper. Picked it up for around $1K which is the best deal for the money out there in my opinion. I know these will not fit behind a 17" wheel but just thought I would give my opinion.

A grand isn't bad at all for a frotn set up. Does anyone ever do the rears? Seems like the car would look funny without the rears done.

I would have bought that kit, but I need brakes that allow the stock 17s for the winter. All the kits are 14". The nice thing is that the GT500 fronts will probably be more economical and the rears(same as GT) have a special pad compound that is designed for performance driving.

The GT500 uses the stock GT rear brakes with upgraded pads. You don't need new rears. Even the FR500C doesn't use upgraded rears.

For about $350 total, you could also just get stainless lines, new fluid and new front pads (like the Hawk HPS). That's my plan for now and it should give a very nice increase in performance and also be fine for some open track days.

Another good alternative, but IMO the HPS are a pure street pad. The HP+ or Hawk Blues would be a better choice for open track days. I plan on running my car in a couple of events per year, so a BBK like the 00R would be beneficial to me.

Reason I havent done anything for the rear yet is that I need to run the 17's at the track so I cant go to a larger rotor. Anyone make a rear kit that fits behind a 17 that has an upgraded rotor and caliper?

Don't waste your money. The FR500C and GT500 uses the stock GT caliper/rotor. Just add SS lines in back and better pads.

I was looking at this but it says right on the website that they will not fit with the stock 17" wheels. Do yours fit under the stock rims or are yours aftermarket?

Overall, I am leaning towards getting the KVR 2-peice rotors (to save some un-spring weight) and some Hawk HPS pads. And maybe the SS lines. I think that will be a good start. I am just trying to find more info on the KVR rotors vs the other ones out there.

I have the Steeda big brake kit on my 05 GT. The car stops on a dime and gives a nickel back in change! Come with 14" slotted rotors and 4 pot calipers. Fully antilock compatible. Made for Steeda by Stoptech. They tested them all, and these were the best. I agree.

I also went with the 14" StopTech BBK with drilled rotors. Just installed it this past weekend and haven't gotten to take it out for a drive yet. I'm waiting on some parts to come back from the paint shop. It sure looks sweet sitting behind the 20in wheels.

SSBC or Steeda are also good alternatives and I have ridden in 05's with both these front kits and they also show extremely good improvement over stock. Check out Inmotionperf.com or PM me for pricing on any of these kits.
