Anybody have Borla 11752's?

These are NOT the Stingers. These are the oval-cannister axel backs that look similar to OEM mufflers. I'm thinking about getting those but can only find media on the Stingers.

If anyone uses them I'd love an honest opinion. Pictures would be gravy.
I'm looking to upgrade performance, looks and sound but without embarrassing the wife (much) in our quiet neighborhood.

Thanks and happy holidays.

Borla 11752

I have them on my GT500 and they are significantly quieter than the stingers. Louder than stock but still polite and no drone, but get loud when you get on it. Similar in loudness at idle/low rpm to FRPP GTA mufflers which I had on for a short time but not as deep and a little more throatier. Not as loud as corsas.

At first I was a little disappointed in how quiet they were but they have grown on me.

Too much to be honest. 600 bucks for the Borlas. 280 for the GTAs.

The Borlas are made much better with T304 stainless and nicer angle cut chrome tips. The GTAs are T430 stainless and will rust over time. I had bought the GTAs for the wife's GT and tried them on my car for a couple of weeks before installing on her car. If you want something a little louder (they are stock on the Shelby GT) and don't want to spend a lot of money, they are good option.

Thanks, Kirk.
Your description sounds perfect for my situation. I'd like to get the Stingers, but Mrs. RobRob has vetoed that idea. I share your sentiments about the cost -- pretty steep -- but the quality and style justify it (to me, anyway).

If you ever get a chance, I'd love to see what they look like on your car -- but only if you have the time. I don't use this board for homework assignments.

Hvae you looked into the Pypes MidMuffler system? Very similar to Stingers, yet the mufflers are located Pre-axle rather than post. And the best part is they run $299 at American Muscle.com with free shipping

Actually, T409 is better than T304. T409 has titanium content in the alloy, making it much more stronger. T409 will develop surface rust over time, but T304 is a much softer steel. The OEM selects T409 for the catalytic converter and exhaust system because T409 will last at least the EPA/Federal mandated warranty for emissions components and then some.

My 81 T-bird still has its original catalytic converter intact and in full working order (will still pass NJ emissions). That's not to say the T304 will last JUST AS LONG, but the T409 is a stronger alloy.
I was caught in the same mentality where the shiny T304 must be better than the rusty looking T409.

As Metroplex mentioned, the GTA mufflers are actually T409, not T430 stainless steel. Disagree with T409 being better than T304 though. T304 is a higher quality and more expensive stainless steel containing more chromium and maintains its appearance for a longer period of time. T409 is less durable but more cost effective and therefore used for many components where appearance is a secondary consideration like exhaust systems. Exhaust components made with T409 will maintain more than sufficient integrity for a period exceeding the automobile warranty. In practical terms, either alloy will outlast the ownership period of most purchasers.

I don't have pictures of the exhaust handy but will take pictures of both cars this weekend if the weather cooperates.

T409 is more durable/stronger but won't maintain its appearance. T409 contains Titanium while T304 does not. Also, T304 is very soft and I was surprised at how easy it was to work with.

FYI your quote looks very familiar. I think one of the axle-back vendors had that statement on their website.

Here are a few pictures of the Borlas and GTAs from the rear of the car on photobucket. You don't see much of the actual muffler. Keep in mind that the muffler tips stick out farther on the GT500 than on a GT. You probably won't see much of the Borla logo.

The left GTA on my wife's GT appears to have come loose and is hanging down a little. Looks like I have something to work on this week.

Perfect -- just what I needed to see. I'm now convinced the 11752s are the way to go. Now if I can just scrape together the caysh. Both cars look great, by the way -- love the his and hers 'Stangs.

Thanks a lot and have a great Christmas.
