Uhm. No. It won't. There is one HUGE difference with the Spanish Oak ECU: It is VERY tightly regulated for EMISSION concerns. This makes it VERY sensitive to changes. The older processes had a much wider auto tuning window than the 05 SO ECU does. As it is trying to "learn" the high flow from your (good) CAI and exhaust system, it hits that nasty little CEL line before it gets there.

The SO ECU is a fantastic piece of electronic work, but Uncle Sam has his nose WAY under the door with this one. The cool thing is that it CAN be tuned to clean things up so the SO ECU doesn't hit the CEL. But just resetting it and letting it figure things out are a thing of the past. This baby has to be in the ball park to start with, or it will throw a hissy fit.
Are you trying to imply the K&N instake is not "good"
hehe it's all a matter of opinion I guess, but I know I like it

If you reset the computer it should change the parameters keep the A/F ratio fine.

Although this is unproven since everyone adds a tune.
Negative, where did you hear this? The computer will not "learn" to adapt. The computer on the 05 Mustang does not learn the new A/F ratio well, and a tune is needed when changing to a CAI. Although reseting the computer does work on many cars, it doesn't seem to work on this one. The SES may go out, but it will come back shortly without a tune.

From experience, the MMR intake claims NOT to need a tune, but the Service Engine Soon light popped the next day, and the car was running like crap. Even the directions that come with the MMR intake said it may pop codes. And the car was bone stock, no tune.

My dealer has no problems with mods - UNTIL you start messing with the cats or adding nitrous, then they said I would start having warranty issues.
Anyway they went over my car checking it out for problems with my mods .. they said everything was just fine.

Thats my friends' opinion. Especially with a tune they said. They said since you are messing with the A/F ratio, its very easy for the dealer to pin any engine problems on it.

They said rims/muffler and be done with it. Not even gears are "safe".

I suggest you get new friends... then get the tune!

I think the operative word is...former Mustang modders, might as well have been Duster modders, this car is in no way the same car they know.

I have (2) dealerships that I work with. Neither has a problem with any of the installed mods. I have never removed anything or reflashed the vehicle before taking to the dealership for warranty work. One reason is the mods I have installed are not compatible with the factory tune - SES light or FailSafe Mode warning happens immediately. I took a slightly different approach with my dealers - I was up front and informed them of all my mods. The conclusion was very fair in my opinion. If a mod didn't cause the problem I brought the vehicle in for it would be covered by warranty. If the mod caused the problem it was my bill. So far I have never had to pay for any repairs under warranty. Even a nasty 3 week ABS ordeal that resulted in a $2,000+ repair bill.

I do however have a 93 Octane Custom Tune that was made just for my vehicle by DiabloSport and dyno'd by DiabloSport at their facility - not a canned tune. There is no substitute for a Custom Tune.

I haven't seen my dealer since the day I bought the car... and I want to keep it that way! They did their job... they sold me a car. I don't need them for anything else.
My sentiments exactly.

Took the GM of my dealership for a ride yesterday, he LOVED it. Couldn't believe the difference with the C&L and Atl. Auto tune. His grin was bigger then mine when we pulled back in the lot, no problem there...

My dealer doesn't like the nitrous either, so if it goes in for service the NO2 comes off, but all of my other mods stay on. They said that they will service it but if Ford wants to send a tech down from Michigan on a plane then it could get inspected and warranty refused. My thoughts are if they will take care of it great, if not then I will be responsible for it even if I have to take the car away on a trailer in pieces so I can install better parts on my own.

I think your friends are tools. Do they realize that you can't even put bigger rims on the car without going into the computer to correct the speedo and mileage?

Ok, everyone take a deep breath and get the sand out of their vaginas.......

the fact is....the computers on these cars are not as willing to adjust the A/F ratio without an error as mustangs in the past. Hence, a tune is required.

There, I edited my post to be less confrontational.

So back to topic. The new ECU requires a tune for almost everything, and its not out of the ordinary to do so, so I shouldn't feel bad or worry about it...does that about sum it up?

Yep, pretty much. Like someone above said, even if you just change the tire diameter, you'll still need a tuner to reset the speedo.
