Another GT 1/4 mile timeslip.
Well, went to the track again this weekend. I got 1 run in a few months ago but it was a very crappy night. My best was a 14.1. Well this weekend I was getting alot of 14.1's and mid 14's. I was being too soft on the car, but it's my daily driver so I was just being careful since it was my ride back to Austin. Well, I decided to really unleash on the car towards the end of the night since I was very unhappy with the times. I could tell, my launches were costing me. so after running a 13.90 with a more aggressive launch, I got a little more aggressive and ran a 13.7. It was a hot evening here in Texas (temp was in 80's) and I think I may have been able to get it a few tenths quicker if I kept playing around, but I had already made about 9 passes and was happy with the 13.7. too bad it was not a cold night, I surely could have pulled mid/low 13's from the difference the car runs in the winter time. I was happy with the 2.0sec 60 foot too!
Not bad at all for a stock motor Mustang! go Ford powah!

Well frog, nice going, also nice lady on the car, Not sure if its you in picture or not, since I dont know if your male or female, but either way nice looking car, with nice looking lady. Just the way it should be.
Did you notice any wheelhop at the drags?
Also, a somewhat bumpy feel after launching is "wheelhop" correct? Either that or I need to find some flat land around here instead of dipping intersections and uneven roads.

Sorry, guys, it's not me in the pic. I set up a small exotic car / bikini shoot a few weeks ago and she was one of the models.
My origional picture of my timeslip messed up, but I tried to post another one.
I'll try here too:

About the wheel hop.... The springs seemed to eliminate the hop somewhat. I was very pleased actually.... I remember the first time I had a run a few months ago, I only got in one run and didn't get to play around any to get a feel for the car. The wheel hop was TERRIBLE with the stock springs. I mean, when I went through the water box and tried to burn the water off the tires in a small burnout, the wheels felt like they were going to hop right off the car! The wheel hop was bad during the burnout and the whole rear end hopped up and down, because the tires would grip and slip, since half the tire was dry and the other was wet. It caused a bad fast hopping during the burnout and didn't help during the launch eithor. I didn't get in enough runs to see if it was my my burnout technique or what the deal was. This time, I drove a bit to the side of the water box to get the least amount of water on my tires as possible and avoid repeating the hoppnig I got last time, so maybe that is why I lost most of the hopping. Well, NOW it seems, I could get a normal burnout and not have any worries. These springs are tighter and feel GREAT! The wheel hop seemed to be gone, except for maybe a little here and there, but not really noticable.

I think I know the popping you must be refurring to and I do hear a small pop every now and then when I back out of a drive and turn the wheel very sharp. Heck, it would never be anything to stray me from buying the springs though. I think with any mod like this on a car, you will notice little noises and stuff like that. Nothing to worry about. I think all my cars I dropped in the past popped a little too.

At first, I was babying the car too much and I was launching around 1500. ON the street with my G-Tech, I got some really MAD times doing that this past winter. I mean some FAST times! I could deffinately feel this car move alot faster in the winter time. Like having a little shot on it or something. Anyhoo, a 1500 laungh didn't work too well at the track. I was getting the best of 14.1 The car would bog down and then take off like a rocket, but you want the holeshot, so bogging is the enemy of course. With the better times, I was launching around 3,000 or so. you would need to find a comfortable ROPM for you, but I would start out around that range. I was really afraid of spinning at that RPM launch, but the car did pretty good. Yes, there was alot of spin, but the car gripped enough to get a good launch. I needed a bit more practice though.... I was smellnig a bit of stink from the clutch and I didn't like that. I think if I had been launching hard like that from the begining, I would have found a "sweet spot", but I had about 9 runs that night and thought that was enough on the car. Since the car doesn't have loud exhaust on it, it makes it difficult to hear the RPM and I'm not sure what exactly I was launching at because I had to pay attention to the tree. The pedals on these 05's are soooo touchy, I could have been a few hundred RPM's up or down. I basically rolled up to prestage(first top yellow light), then rolled into stage(second top yellow light). IMMEDIATELY, I revved up to about 3,000 but had to do this fast, since the tree was starting to start. As soon as I got it to 3,000, it was pretty much time to laungh. It takes a few times, so don't get discouraged if your times are bad at first. Good Luck!

Regarding the wheelhop, I noticed that sometimes when I burnout in my 98 GT (which is stock) I get wheelhop, and sometimes I don't.
I really don't know why it only happens sometimes. Must have something to do with my technique.

I got it BAD at the track with stock springs and wet tires, but on the streets, I sometimes did and sometimes didn't. On the street it was flakey. Depends on the road surface I think.... Havn't noticed any at all on the street with my new springs.

Frog,
I made 2 passes fri night.
1st pass 2.15 60ft 9.24 1/8mile time.
2nd pass 1.99 60ft 8.95 1/8 mile time.
Tire shake both times.
Not too bad for a bone stock GT.
Cant wait to try the 1/4 mile.
