I searched and read some posts where after people put the flowmasters on, their MPG went into the gutter for a while. Will disconnecting the battery help? And if I do disconnect the battery, will I need to reload the Bamachips tune I have? Any other helpful tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm guessing the mileage went down because you are listening to the exhaust

I should have mentioned mine aren't on yet. I just ordered them. I was hoping to avoid said mileage drop if possible. But I do get the feeling that my car might become good friends with Mr. Rev Limiter.

I still have the stock tune and Flows on my '05 GT. I didn't do anything w/ the battery, just bolted them on (about 8 months ago). My mileage stays in the 21mpg range in mixed use (driving back and forth to work/lunch on some highway, 60mph-spaced stoplight-secondary roads, and w/ ~moderate traffic). And it's been going up. Last few months I've avg. ~21.5 mpg. I'm thrilled!!

Besides, if I wanted a fuel sipper, I woulda bought a hybrid civic.

You don't need to do anything. Don't need to touch the battery, or get it tuned. Your computer will compensate for any changes. Just give it time. Bolt them on and enjoy the sound!

How the heck do you get 21MPG, isn't it like 18/19 MPG freway driving and like 16/17MPG off highway driving for the GT. I don't even drive my car hard and i'm happy to get 17 MPG. Is there a secret or what

It's 17 city, 25 highway.

I usually get 20-21 with mixed driving, and that's really aggressive driving as well. If I dog the **** out of it, I'll get 18mpg. Short trips kill the mileage. I think it runs really rich until it's up to operating temps, then leans out.

Hi,

Quick question on the mileage issue, does having larger rims effect your mpg? I have 20" Foose rims on mine and I get a consistent reading of about 12.5 mpg all in city driving,My computer reads at approx 215miles per full tank of gas and I fill up when I get to 50 miles left.Does my comp need to be re-calibrated or should I take it to the dealer to have it checked out? i don't get on it all that much, but occasionally I do.Anyone have any thoughts? I would kill for 17mpgs.
