First of all, the price of the two Ford Racing friction modifiers must have a typo: $3.75 for one of them and $42.00 for the other. Which is it?

When I had my rear re-done, the installer used Royal Purple, and I wound up with clutch-pack moaning... R&R the fluid with Motorcraft, with Motorcraft friction modifier, and no more noise... Just my experience...

OK so why are you quoting me I did not suggest he use RP.

The Motorcraft 75w140 is almost double the cost of Redline Oil and the Redline is far superior. I have been using Redline for well over 20 years and it has always cured clutch pack chatter.

My apologies... My post SHOULD have read: "...Royal Purple, which also has friction modifier in it, and I wound up with clutch-pack moaning..." My intent was to present info that a competing product to the Redline, which is supposedly a functional equivalent, did create issues...

No problem. I myself do not like RP and would never use it in anything i own. But I do not like saying that as it tends to cause a ruckus. I have seen a few independent test over the years and RP does not hold up well in any of them.

Like I said though i have been running Redline Oils for a long time and it has always cured any clutch pack chatter i have and in fact we use it at the shop i work for. It is the only thing we will use to get rid of the chatter if someone complains about it.

I have a Detroit/Eaton Truetrac differential, so no synthetic gear lube or friction modifier for me! I'm using Shell Spirax HD 85w140. It's only $5 a quart vs. $22 a quart for the Motorcraft 75w140 synthetic gear lube.
