Alternator Install

Well the Alternator on my 07 GT is bad... at 37500 miles, 1500 miles out of warranty!

Got a RM Motorcraft Alternator off Amazon for $220 and will be installing it, hopefully tommorow. In order to remove the accessory belt, is something like this what I'm looking for?
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/cat...&brandName=OEM

I can rent that from Autozone.

Any idea on why such poor performance out of my alternator? I have a Pioneer Nav system but besides that everything is stock electrical wise.

I just recently had to replace my alternator...twice. And yup, that's what you need.

continually having to charge a run down battery will do that and these cars are famous for battery run down issues.

Yeah I had a lot of issues with alternators in my 05 GT. You dont need that kit, you just need a 1/2 inch breaker bar. It will release the tension in the belt so you can take if off the alternator.

Cool

I have used a long 1/2 inch socket wrench to release the tension on serpentine belts.
(Just the wrench by itself without any sockets attached).
Check first before renting that tool. It might save you a trip to the autoparts store.
