Almost hit 12s today
I got a call today from my friend Brian this afternoon. He was at Great Lakes Drag with his APS TT 350Z. Out of the blue I decided that I would run over there and get some runs in. I dragged my girlfriend along and headed to the track. I wasn't planning on racing today, since I was on a weekend vacation.
Ambient Air temp: 64 degrees
3/4 of tank of gas
First Run/Best Run:
Didn't touch a thing. I had 2 peices of luggage in the trunk, spare, etc. Stock tire pressure (OEM Pirellis) in all 4 tires. Just drove to the track and ran. If I would have removed the luggage, spare, and had 1/4 tank of gas; I feel this would have been a 12 second pass :bang:
1.956 60'
5.500 330'
8.445 1/8
83.98 MPH
10.969 1000'
13.088 1/4
108.40 MPH
Notes: Launched @ 2800 with a quick dump. Wheel hopped for 20-30 ft.
2nd Run:
2.023 60'
8.560 1/8
84.24 MPH
13.179 1/4
109.01 MPH
Notes: 3100 Launch. Spun a bit and had to let of the throttle. Played around with my shifting points. Helped in trap speed.
3rd Run:
2.046 60'
8.577 1/8
83.79 MPH
13.217 1/4
106.03 MPH
Notes: 3000 rpm launch. Spun about 10 ft and wheel hopped about 10. Shifted at redline. Trap speed went down.
Overall, I was pretty impressed. Mods are in my sig. This was my first time at the track with my 05 Mustang. This was also the first time I had launched a RWD car at the strip.
I have videos of all three runs.....Can someone host them???

Wow, you're obviously a great driver. Awesome times buddy.
What does your friend's 350z TT run? Should be around mid 10's to 9's right? Stock internals and block right?

Thanks!
He ran 11.7@120 today. He is running stock internals on 9lbs of boost. The car put down 430 to the rear wheels. He runs BFG drag radials on 18" Volks.
Video of his run:

download second video named 11.7.avi...you'll need the latest dixv codec to view it.
Take a look at the "3Wide" video as well. It's my Mustang against a Turbo I30(Camera Car) against Brian's TT 350Z. We went from a 60 roll on a late night highway run.
Wow! Except for the X-pipe, we have the same mods! Almost 12s? Very impressive. I don't claim to be a great driver, but those numbers are encouraging. Hope I can come close to them. Rock on!
Hey max, nice times. I read your comments over at my 350z.com trying to stand up for the stangs.
. Some of those guys are cool, however some of them really have issues. I am actually registered there, but have not posted once
Anyway, good luck with hitting 12s

hey, some of those guys over there are talking some real smack! They refuse to accept that, stock for stock, the GT is faster. I have nothing against Zs. They were in my top five when researching a new car, but I know the Stang will smoke one.

Seriously though, you got some GREAT times! Any tips for a newbie racer with similar mods? How many ponies does your X-pipe add? Did you need to re-tune for it?

-Remove all the junk from your car...Spare, Jack, etc. I only did this on my last 2 runs.
-Stay away from the burnout box and any debris. My experience says to not do a burnout on street tires. Just do a quick launch and get all the rocks and dirt off the tires. My experience from road racing tells me that street tires get real greasy when heated up. This is not good for traction.
-Take your time when at the tree. Reaction time means nothing when you aren't bracket racing. Be patient and don't rush yourself. I know inside I personally want to cut a good light and outlauch the guy next to me, but just run against yourself.
My best launch was at 2800 rpms with a quick dump of the clutch. I would have liked to play with tire pressure, but there wasn't enough time to conduct an accurate experiment with tire PSI.

Can someone with experience help me? If I had BMR LCA's, would they have dropped my 60's anything. I want to run 12s on the stock tires.
