I plan on lowering the stang soon and of course I will need an alignment. I talked with my dealership and they said that they won't be able to align the car because they won't be able to get the car up on the rack. They told me that I will need to find someone with a rack in the ground. I have called ever shop that I know of and every dealer around but everone has a rack that you have to drive up onto and they each told me that it won't fit.
Had anyone else had this problem? Where did you go?

You know back in the day when my Dad was the manager of a service facility I used to help out the front-end man and we used a Hunter machine that was a drive-on, but it was totally adjustable. We could fit everything from Volkswagon Beetles to large utility trucks. I find it hard to believe that they can't fit the car on the rack.

Something doesn't sound right about that at all. Almost like they are giving you an excuse because they don't want to do it.

Try looking for someone that has a Hunter DSP6000 Alignment System. It is one of the latest from Hunter. Most of the people who upgrade to this system also install the new drive on racks and most of these have lower inner rails that typically interfere with the underside of lowered cars.

I sounds like BS to me as well. I think the dealships are full of it. I'm going to start calling tire places to see if they have one. I will ask around about the Hunter system.

That's weird, the FORD dealership told you that they could not fit in a FORD Mustang into their alignment rack? Sounds like they don't want to do the alignment. Good luck in your search.

I will use Steeda springs so it will be lowered about an inch. They said that the main problem is the bumper hitting the rack when you drive up.

May want to pull out the yellow pages and call a few performance shops. Bet you'll star accumulating a list of places to go.

If thats the case...then throw down two pieces of 2x4 under the front wheels in front of the ramp...simple. drive up on them, and onto the ramps. Maybe they thought you were going lower, an inch shouldnt be an issue...IMO. Good Luck

Total B.S. ..... I installed the STEEDA Lowering Springs and they had absolutely no problems getting my car car on the ramp to align it... Just like "THE GREEK" said, even if they do have a problem, they could use 2x4's to help get it up the ramp...

Thats pretty crappy for them to say that without trying. We have problems with some cars getting them on the rack, but like 05stg1 said, use 2x4's. thats what we use.
You can see the scrape marks from other cars hitting it right were hes talking about.

A couple of 2 x 6s a foot long work great. Problem is their ramps are too steep for some lowered cars. I have steeda springs and the 2 x 6 was required.

I will ask about using some 2x6s to get the car up there. I called one performance shop and they said that they would be able to do it for about $75. Hey, one more question. How long should it take a good shop to install the springs? My guy charges by the hour and I'm hoping that it doesn't take over 4 hours to do it.
Thanks

2x6s are better

The rear is quick, and simple, you can do it yourself if you could raise the car enough to lower the rear fully. the fronts require some work, better leaving that for them.
If I were to guess... I would say no more than 2-3 hrs for the install ft/rr.
