My brother had his Ford ECM reworked by the company indicated below and he is extremely pleased with the results. I suppose the new Mustang will require chip reprograming of one level or another for improved performance. I thought a referral might be of useful to folks wishing to tune their cars.

http://www.americanmotorsport.com/ is the link to the business which performed the work.

I am not affiliated or compensated by the company in question, only wish to pass on their name in view of the good work done.

Regards,

FC

I wrote my brother, here is his reply:

'My tuner was $500.00+ because of the different custom programs. I got before and after dyno runs on my Gtech ProComp. My mileage went from full tank usage (13-15 gallons) 275-300 stock to 325-340 with the "Economy" and "Performance" program. The AMS chip gave me 26HP and 22TQ.'

Contact person is Alberto at AMS.

I really recommend making the call and speaking with the folks at AMS directly for exact information on scope of work available and the related price(s).

Best Wishes,
FC

How does that effect the manufacturer's warranty?

Regarding warranty, under the Magnason-Moss Warranty Act, you may or may not be protected for any mods made to the drivetrain. See link for info on legislation http://www.sema.org/main/semaorghome.aspx?ID=25225

This would apply to all vehicles under factory warranty.

Please let me know if the link does not connect.
Here is a bit more detailed info. I just noticed the SEMA site has update since I was there last.
Under the Magnusson-Moss Act, aftermarket equipment that improves performance does not void a vehicle manufacturer's original warranty, unless that warranty clearly states the addition of aftermarket equipment automatically voids the warranty or that the aftermarket device is the direct cause of the failure. The easiest way to check this is to look in your owner's manual under "What is not covered." Nonetheless, Dealers receive less compensation for warranty work than regular service rates and some have tried to deny warranty service. Under Magnusson-Moss Act a dealer must prove, not just vocalize, that aftermarket equipment caused the need for repairs before they can deny warranty coverage. If they cannot prove such claim-or proffer a questionable explanation- it is your legal right to demand compliance with the warranty. The Federal Trade Commission (202-326-3128) administers the Magnusson-Moss Act and monitors compliance with warranty law.
