Aftermarket exhaust
I want to change the Mistress' exhaust system for a more throaty tone. I am looking to do an axle back system, but I am torn on what to get. My choices are...
Ford Racing
Magnaflow
Flowmaster American Thunder
Borla
Corsa
I've listened to sound clips of each, and listening to them is like going into Sherwin Williams and asking for blue paint.. too many choices.
What do you run on your Mustang, and why did you choose it?

I agree...sound clips fall short.
I'm running GT500 axlebacks with no other exhaust mods. It seems like a large number of owners on this forum have them.
I have a GT Convertible and wanted an moderate but noticable drone with the top down. I was looking for bad-a$$ sound, bolt ons, and a reasonable price ($280 + installation).
I got exactly what I was looking for...they're throaty and deep with a neat gurgling sound when downshifting, and now I find myself seeking out tunnels even if I have to go 5 miles out of my way.

Hate to start a landslide, but for the price the gt500 have to be the best. I was between Roush and gt500 and ended up with the latter because Latemodel put then on sale for $280. Easy OEM fit and finish and sounds exactly how it should have. It's not ridiculous but it draws attention and give the car character. Deep, throaty, burble on decel and roar on WOT for under $300 installed has got to be the best deal out there. Just wish the tips were double walled and a little bigger, but they still look better than stock and sound amazing.
All depends on taste and budget, my budget got the best of me and I got something that still exceeded my expectations

I don't want to take away from your options ... but we have a very popular in our Steeda Axle Backs - http://www.steeda.com/steeda-mustang...515-steeda-11/
Here is a sound clip.
We have a forum code that will bring this exhaust's price even lower. This is the same exhaust system we use on our serialized vehicles sold at Dealerships.
You can reach me at tim@steeda.com if you have any questions or need support.
Best of luck!
Best Regards,
TJ

GT500's and resonators replaced with 3" pipe! The GT500's by themselves are very tame, but after you remove the resonators they are at least 1/3 louder and they pop crackle more and have a lot more scream at wot! I am constantly and i literally mean constantly getting compliments on my exhaust!

SLP loudmouth.
Although I did enjoy them while I had'em, ran them a couple of years. Or one.
I was lucky enough to buy a pair of STEEDA's from a guys on these forms yrs back. And I've been pleased with them.
But I've also run just about EVERY axleback out there, and I can tell ya any significant sound change must include more than just axlebacks... Promise ya!

I have the gt500. I think they sound great and not to loud. Then I just added cat deletes. The car at idle is still very tame and gets pretty loud when I'm getting on it.
Like a lot of other people on this site we are always going to be modding and adding more parts. So I recommend the gt500 muffler because if you decide later to get headers or cat deletes it not crazy loud. Some guys start with a loud muffler then get a O/R h or x and the car is way to loud. its all personal preference.

I have gone with Corsa Extreme axle backs and they are awesome even without LT headers and O/R mid pipe. I am going to get Kooks LT headers and then going with catted "H" mid. Should sound pretty sweet after that. Not too loud but just enough to turn heads.

I kept the stock exhaust for years pondering the same question.
I have heard them all. Borla atak is what I went with. Fairly tame until you get on it then they roar. No drone !!

FRP&P for that lower deep sound not to loud but a bit loud. Corsa if you want them louder. I have the FRP&P's forever. They are starting to get louder now, I think the packing is starting to blow out. My buddy has both. He also had the Borlas. The Corsa's look the best though. $$$
