wow

looks good,i wouldn't mind trying that. that whole calculating thing to figure out which filter you need is a little to much. i'll wait toill someone figure's out what's needed for a "racer c&l" than get one

NOW!! they say do it every 10k miles, but its BS. i clean mine every 5 and notice a big difference every time. these mustangs like to suck air in big time, so the filters get dirty fast. im ordering the aem filter right now, here it is at summitt....

you can clean it as many times as you want, but oiling it is a PITA and gets oil on the MAF. this one you dont oil just clean it.

cleaning instructions:

This AEM Dryflow filter cleaning solution is a simple cleaning solution for your Dryflow air filter. Just add the 12 oz. solution to a warm pail of water and submerge the air filter in the water for 10 minutes. Let it dry, and repeat the process again. Then, just reinstall your AEM Dryflow synthetic air filter and it will perform just like new.

I have it, came with my aem intake. It is nice that it is dry and there is no worry about adding too much oil or not enough. Having had the K&N style filter cone on my last cars intake, it was a pain and always had me worried. Another nice thing is you can brush stuff off of it, I used to get bugs, spider webs ect. stuck on the oiled filter, not much you can do since the medium was gauze "like". If you tried to brush it off it would just get imbedded in the filter medium.

I cannot attest to it's performance over the oiled medium filter, would assume it filters better though. Have not cleaned mine yet so no comment on the process but seems easy enough, just need to get a day when I won't be driving anywhere to do it.

Has anyone tried this - mating a AEM dryflow filter with a C&L CAI? If so did it work OK? Does your tune need any adjustment with the different filter?

I am considering doing this for my C&L racer. Right now I am running a Bama tune for my stock intake box even though I have a C&L racer sitting unused in my garage, and a tune for it available on my SCT. Oiled filters make me nervous because I am worried I will screw up the oiling and get the MAF all gunked up.

Aren't the Amsoil filters, considered as dryflow as well

I have the AEM dryflow with the C&L for over a year now and it works great. Don`t bother buying the cleaning solution just clean it per instructions using Simple Green or similar degreasing agent.

I would like to replace my stock filter with one of the following: K&N, S&B, or AEM. I do not want a CAI. Which one of the three would be the best to replace the stock panel filter. I do have a tune and I was using the K&N, but got worried from what I hear about its filtering ability. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I don`t have the part number at hand, however, I had the 9" on my pick up and tried to put it on the Mustang and it did not fit. I went with the next smaller size 5" or 6" with the 4" inner dia. It works great. Plenty of surface area and flow. BTW I did not buy the cleaner solution. Just use Simple Green or Fantasic per AEM instuctions and it works great!

I just measured the filter element from my C&L racer and dimension "A" is 4 inches dimension "B" is 8 inches. So it looks like there is no exact match from the AEM batch.

http://www.dcsports.com/files/pdf/ae...take_chart.pdf

Closest would be 21-205DK with 5" element or 21-2059DK with 9" element. Laga said he had fitment issues with the 9" one.

Bummer, if there was an exact match I would give this a try but now I am a little hesitant since there's not.

If the diameter of the "A" is 4 inches, the 4x9 filter should work fine. It is just a little longer than the S&B one. It will still seal up fine. As long as it fits in the compartment and is not too long.

You could give this a look too.

Hm maybe you are on to something there - Amsoil has a 4x7 that might fit better than the 4x9, and I think I prefer the appearance of the Amsoil over the AEM.
