I have a off road x pipe... I wish I had an off road h pipe supposed to have a deeper sound... My x sounds a little higher pitched, but the x is supposed to give a little more power

X provides a slight increase in power, not even noticeable. H pipe is nice and deep.

Akropovic a maker of premium exhaust for exotics and motorcycles makes a exhaust for the V8 M3 with both a H and an X pipe in one system. I'd love to try that if the Mustang pipe layout was conducive.

Like others have said, X pipe has a slightly better performance, but the H pipe sounds a lot deeper. But I like the more raspy tone of the X IMO.

I love the sound of my x pipe. But mufflers play a big role in in the x pipe. I chose dual chamber dynomax mufflers. I have been told several times that It has a "exotic" sound too it

H-pipe: get most horsepower at low rpms
X-pipe: get most horsepower at high rpms

????

the x pipe provides more power than the H. The x pipe balances out the torque curve while the H pipe is more for sound dynamics. When the exhaust gases pass the opening in the X this creates a low pressure area thus improving scavenging it does however have a lower tone than the h-pipe. The 90* turn the exhuast gases make for the cross over in the H pipe are more designed for sound vs performance.

one of the best X pipes out there is the Dr.Gas X pipe IMHO.

this answer can easily be found in many tech articles such has muscle mustangs and fast fords, 5.0. mustang and super fords and tech forums on exhaust theory basics.

I prefer the sound of the H and would sacrifice the 3 or 4 hp loss for it.
