94 Octane with 10% Ethanol Blend..O.K to use with a tune?

I just found 4 gas stations in Edmonton that have 94 octane with a 10% Ethanol Blend...Every other station only has a high of 91 octane...

Any thoughts about using this gas with a tune...My manual said using a 10% ethanol blend was fine but, as we know, states only to use 87 octane...

Any thoughts about this? Will it damage the engine? etc? Thank you for your input...

Make sure it is a tune for 94 (well at least 91) or it won't help you.
Should not damage the engine.
If you use a 93 tune with 87 octane it can cause knocking and damage.

Thank you Karman...I am ready to buy my combo from Doug and just noticed this 94 octane here...So I am deciding on what tune and octane to use...The higher the octane and tune the better...That is what I understand...Thanks again...

Just make sure you tell Doug exactly what fuel(s) you plan to use. Including the % of ethanol.

You will have to make sure your car is tuned to use ethanol. The A/F will have to be set more rich.

By the way, the only way alcohol (ethanol) is corrosive is when it is mixed with water. The distillers of alcohol (ethanol) go to great lengths to remove all water and other byproducts from the product before it is shipped from the plant.

E10 is generally not enough of a problem that requires a retune. Anything more than 20% will require special fuel hoses and rubber components as well as a retune. E85-E100 will require a stoich AFR of about 9-10:1 (gas is 14.6-14.7:1).

My car has always run extremely rich with Sunoco 94 octane gas. The exhaust always tends to sound louder and more growly, while the tailpipes turn black very quickly.

Thank you GT John & Metroplex...I do not want my tailpipes to turn black...I may just use 91 Octane tunes until I understand more about this...

I hope the 91 octane race tune is close to the 93 octane race tune...Yes, I want more power...Safe power and yes, this is addictive...
