5sp Automatic help
I bought my car last december. Whenever i stop the car, put it into park, and let off the brake the car rocks back and then the shifter clicks into park... its quite annoying, anyone know a fix?
its a automatic and has always done this...

Mine does this too. I thought it was a glitch in my tranny. I was going to take it into the dealer next week, but I guess it's just something we have to live with. Thanks for saving me a trip to the dealer.

Stop the car, put it into Park, DON'T let off the brake, engage the e-brake, Now let off the brake and shut off the car.
Problem solved.
same problem here. I just make sure to apply e brake after setting. I took it too dealer, they said that is normal. I figured it was just a linkage adjustment. But maybe there linkage isnt adjustable. good luck

Thanks for the replies, made an appointment with dealership to have it looked at (along with a fix for the gas tank, and CD player) this wed. I'll report back then.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Good luck on the CD player! I'm on my 3rd skipper 1000.

every automatic car i have driven does that when on a slope. I think it may just be something to do with the way auto transmissions are designed. What it also does is if somebody hits you while your parked, it will allow your car to roll a bit. Because of this, this may be the way auto trannys are designed so that you dont break something if someone bumps you while parallel parking.

Comon guys you all should know better than that
. Stopping and pulling into PARK leaves a few inches of rollaway for the car, especially if you are on a slight slope. Pull into park, KEEP YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKES, and pull the ebrake. Its as simple as that. The ebrake will hold the car in place.

mine does the same thing but my other cars with auto tranny didn't do this. you put it in park and it stays there and no click after it's in park just right when you hit park. it's very annoying to me. i never put the e-brake on unless i'm on a slope which is far and few between here in florida. it doens't do it if I slam the shifter up hard and it clicks right in to park and it doens't rock back. try doing that guys and see if it helps.. it doens't seem like it's lined up right.
