500 horses legally?
hey everyone, its been awhile since ive been on here! Hows everyone?
Quick Q: My dad wants to know how to get 500-550 horses on our 05 gt auto...and keeping it legal
what supercharger will be best for daily driven?

I've seen some clean Whipple setups tuned with SCT that run 500 at the motor. I'm sure the exaust that makes the setup breath is debatably not legal, but it has cats and mufflers, so it will pass. More of a sound issue.

O/R H pipe is not legal. You'd have to change that back. Plus as long as it has a C.A.R.B. cert, and is posted on the s/c itself, it's legal.
Whipple sounds like a good way to go, either that or KB.

it does not mater how much HP you have as ling as the car meets all DOT EPA and NTSB standards, Emissions is the only thing, as long as the Cats are in place, (High flow perfered for SC) and in some states all O2 sensors must work, your fine.

LOL... Saying "why not" doesn't answer the question? Is this another one of those dyno number bragging things? Or is there actually some reason to want 500 hp? "Why not" 600hp? or 700hp? It's just a number, right? Maybe its just me, but being able to point to one tiny spot on a dyno chart at some high rpm and say "I have 500 hp" makes no sense. I guess I'll never understand the fascination with hp numbers. I'd rather have a low ET, than a high hp number. Just my personal opinion...
But, to answer the original question, go with a centrifugal supercharger. They have a higher peak hp number than twin screws.

Mine qualifies as a "Dyno Pig"... it's never hit 500 on the dyno... ever. haha. But, I believe that there's more to a car than just the engine. I subscribe to the "less is more" theory. I'd prefer to have the engine work less and get more out of the car via the driveline, rear end, suspension, weight transfer, traction, etc. I've seen quite a few cars with 500 hp running 12s and 13s. And I've seen cars with 300hp running 12s and 13s. I wonder what the difference is? Personally, I want to get into the 10s with less than 500.
True story. Last week at the track, some guy was asking me all sorts of questions about my car. At one point he says, "What's it making, like 600 at the wheels"? I just chuckled without answering. Then he says, "700?". I laughed again, and told him "only about 470". He then basically proceeded to call me a liar. "No way, man. Seriously, what kind of numbers are you putting down?" I said, "Seriously... about 470." All I got was another "No way" as he walked away from the car.

I just saw an article where they got 396 RWHP on a stock block with cams. So how long will that motor last? I say about 4 dyno runs!

It's only natural for people to want to acheive a certain perceived hp#.
