410s at the track first time
410s at the track first time
I didn't run what I was hoping to, high 13s. But I did run more consistently. Last night I pulled a 14.6 and a 14.4. My best is a 14.2. Now I'm getting in to 4th but I think I need to adjust my launch and shifts. Got there late so I only made two passes. And I always **** on myself my first pass, I normally miss 2nd cuz I'm all nervous :P. gotta start taking it easy my first run of the night. Pretty sure my poor times are due to inexperience. More to come next Friday haha

I want to take it back soon now that I've beefed up the rear end and gotten a new clutch. Are you running street tires?

You should be able to get well into the 13's no problem. My first time out on the track , the first couple of passes were mostly in the 14.1 - 14.0 range. But once I got my launch figured out, it started to go into the 13.8's. And my car is a dead stock w/ manual trans and the factory 3.55's except for a drop -in K&N filter and the SLP Loudmouths and I'm also running the Nitto 555's. With a lil more practice you should be running 13's with no problem. Good luck

first time I went to the track with my sgt the best I could do is 14.1 qt. Thats with the stock 235s tires, 3.55 rear, stick and a dust storm had just passed. Give it time and you will do better.
Yea I went again last night. Made six passes. I ran 3 at 14.2 and 3 at 14.0. I was getting a lot of wheel hop and shifting in to second is really hard, like it's hard to shift it in to gear, so I munched it a few times (don't know if it needs to be rebuilt or it's just the way our trannys are). Anyway, I think I have high 13s with a little more practice and a more careful 1-2 shift. Next mods are gonna be rear suspension, long tubes, and a tune by lamotta.

Well to be honest I've kinda been winging it. It's somewhere between 2-3k. I try to go by the sound. Last night was a good learning experience. I've been getting a better feeling for the launch. It's starting to slow down for me, I've been less nerved up. I try to get going at around 2500 and then adjust the throttle according to how I hook.
The last time I went I had the problem that the tires would spin too much when shifting hard into second. I think this was because I used the waterbox with street tires and the burnout didn't get them dry enough. I won't use the box at all next time . Missed 3rd once or twice too.

Went again last Friday, made six passes this time. Feeling a lot more comfortable now. Anyway, I ran 3@14.2 and 3@14.0 got my 60fts down to like 2.1. This time I did a quick spin to clean the tires, and still launched at about 2500rpms. Getting lots of wheel hop so I think my next mod will be fear control arms. Are J&M any good? Any suggestions?

I've always liked BMR. They sell their Polyurethane & Rod End LCA's that are great. Don't go with rod ends on both ends, you'll drive yourself insane with daily driving.
Don't overlook the upper bushing and arm too, I've had a car that was breaking drive-shafts left and right, come to find out his upper bushing was bad.
Thanks, Doug
