I'll take that as a NO.
But the reason for the question is I keep hearing about a noisy rear end, (watch it now), Although some us have one of those already.. But after they go to the 4.10s it gets noisy back there.

In fact I ask Ford about it regarding this change for warranty purposes, he said if we go with Ford Racing gears, no problem, but if it gets noisy you own it. They won't work on it to fix the noise. So hence the question. Plus I drive my GT everyday, so it has to be a functional ride in normal traffic.

So any info about the 4.10 mod is appreciated, the car is going in Wednesday, so I am just making one more check before doing the deal.

IMO, your best bet to avoid noise is FRPP 4.10s... mine are quiet, as are most. Some aren't. It seems to be a small percentage.

I'm thinking about 4.10's myself this spring. I talked directly with my dealer since they are a FRPP dealer, and they will install them for me. It will be a little more pricey than if I were to search for a bargain, but I figure that way the dealer did it and they will warranty them. Maybe not the factory warranty, but I would think that they warranty thier own work, I'll be sure to ask them though before I do have it done. In the summer my GT is basically my daily driver, so I too am concerned about it being too much for driving on the tollway every day to work at between 60-90 hehe.

I noticed you are in the Northern Suburbs. I saw this a while back and finally made my decision on 4.10s.

$430 installed for FRPP gears. I am going to call up soon and see if they will still honor that deal if you mention ChicagoSVT.

It affects emissions because the final gear ratio affects what RPM's the engine is at for a given speed. Since the latest emissions tests are on dynamometers and are tested at certain speeds (15 and 30 MPH), the emissions would be affected (albeit slightly). The cars were only certified for two ratios, the manuals and automatics. Since Ford can't guarantee emissions at other ratios, they won't let you change it anymore.

I wonder if thats just ion states with emissions testing? I know a couple of guys who said the dealer recalibrated there 05s for them.
