Yikes. That's not good.

I'm running 479 at the wheels with 11.5 lbs of boost. Ignorance was bliss.

Wow. How long did you drive before it went? Were you pushing harder than you had been?

In a way its a good thing the rod bent instead of breaking. Much cheaper repair. Good time for a forged rotating assembly.

that was a stock rod no one has seen one bend that far without breaking
no damage to the block crank or bearings I got two good years out of it
my block will be ready sometime next week all forged internals
and for those of you that don't know FRPP quit making the 8 bolt
flex plate for the automatic's so if you need one start looking
they are few and far between

im surprised it would do that, i figured 459 would be fairly safe. I know the closer you get to 500 the more the possibility. But 459 surprises me

I hear a banana rod is good for at least 50 HP!

In all seriousness, what was the first indication you had that something had gone wrong? I would imagine that this is something that can gradually bend over time, is it not? Or would it just give and bend all at once?

When I install my SC I am keeping it under 450whp for sure.
But you can't knock the stock rods, they hold 200 more horsepower than they are supposed to from the factory. I'd say they lived their life well! lol

Yikes... looks a bit better than the armasteel (think thats what they were made from) rod I bent in my old 5.0 though. Glad you didn't suffer a completely catastrophic engine failure.

It looks that you have an aluminum Winsor block. Or if that is, I thought the aluminum 4.6 block is capable of handling up to 1500 horses.
Hmmm..

OP hasn't been here for about 10 years so I doubt we will hear back from him now

my understanding is the BLOCK is good for something like 1000 HP, but the RODS are not

Welcome to the forums!

And what Bert said. They cheap out some on the rods and pistons, but the blocks they over-engineer because why wouldn't you... you might need make another Shelby or something, then you can spend the money on rods/pistons because people'll pay more for it.
