I've heard (but cannot confirm) that having FRP 4.10's installed by Ford will not void your warranty. As far as convincing your sugar daddy - er, daddy - that they are beneficial to more than just racing, try one of these:
1. Because they give better low-end torque, they'd allow you to get out of a tight situation (like entering a freeway on a ramp when you're being boxed out by another car) more quickly;
2. There are some reports that installation of the gears will bring top-end hp down a bit; therefore, the 4.10's actually make the car safer overall;
3. Because the 4.10's will cause your rpms to rise more quickly, particularly in first gear, their installation will mean you have to shift more quickly, meaning that you're in 1st gear for a shorter amount of time, and its dangerous to be in first gear because you could stall, etc.
ok, I'm really stretching here.
Use your imagination, though - you'll come up with something. They're a fun mod.

Although I'm certainly jealous that, as a young driver, you were given a beautiful mustang (my first car was a used chevy corsica, second was a used chevy blazer), I personally don't think just because you are fortunate to have been given a nice car by your parents that you're a spoiled brat or anything like that. Some people just have fortunate stations in life - there's never a reason to apologize for that, and I think most the TMS members here would agree with me. To avoid the problem in the future, just say that you need to get your mod approved by your wife, instead of by your father.

void your warrenty? BS the dealer RECOMMENDED i do them. the only warrenty issue is if u dump the clutch too many times and the gear brakes in the rear end ull have to buy a new set of 4.10s. also, burned off tires are not replaced for free by the dealer ;-) .
get them, they make a world of difference performance wise and do not affect gas mileage more than maybe 1mpg (i actually GAINED mpg, tho i put in a predator tune at the same time as the gears)
things for pops:
1) puts less strain on the engine in city driving because the car can rev more freely with less load
2) 3.55 gears are in stock for the sake of highway mileage, not performance like this car is meant to be
3) does NOT void warrenty
4) cheapest mod with most gain (at the track at least...i ran 13.2 several times with JUST 4.10s and canned pred tune on stock tires and all...and im not that great a driver)-should be about 500 installed
5) does not hurt mileage excessively, and only turns 2900rpm at 80mph on freeway in 5th

So basically, you will have to argue with the dealer and prove to them that a defect was not the result of the modification. If it wasn't, then they are legally obligated to repair it.
