Probably not!

They certainly would not use the old 5.0L as it is no longer built. There is a new crate engine that is a 5.0L, but there are various reasons that it's use is extremly unlikely in the "near future" in a production car.

Maybe if GM comes out with a new Camaro and once the Dodge Challenger is out, several years from now, Ford may feel the need to up the ante beyond the 4.6L in the GT, but that would still be a while.

In addition, I think we would see a 3-valve 5.4L V8 in the Mustang before we would see a 5.0L of any type, but who can say with any certainty?

I'd love to see this, hopefully for some future intermediate version between the GT and GT500, the next Mach 1 maybe. Ford's already got the motor, it already fits in the car. Their development costs would be low. There's a market for it for sure--the Shelby's a great deal for almost 500hp but it's too expensive for most of us working stiffs. A production Mustang with horsepower in the mid to high 300s sounds great.

why cant ford just shoot for 400 like the GTO and the dodge charger????well our price tag is 7000 dollars less than a base GTO so take 5000 of that 7000 and use it on an MMR Turbo kit and the rest on suspension; that GTO will look mighty whimpy in our rear view mirrors. LOL. But then again we all dont have that kind of money. But still, we are making power and have nearly 70 less cubic inches and are running with 05' GTO's.
