I have just one airflow mod and my 07 GT automatic coupe makes 351 rwhp. Car has 100% stock engine, 100% stock exhaust, etc. and I opted for the basic Vortech V2 S-trim supercharger. $3700 for the complete kit (39# injectors, tune/tuner, all hardware to install, etc.). While I also have 4.10 gears and a big stall converter, those don't add horsepower (but they sure wake up the car around town and at the dragstrip).
So, you can spend thousands on exhaust and bolt on's to just barely get to 300 rwhp, or spend about the same (or maybe just a little more) and get a basic, non-intercooled supercharger and net 350-400 rwhp.

1) I would sure want an intercooler. Don't take offense to that, but with the weather around here lately in the summer, I can just imagine how it would feel south of here in traffic with a non intercooled setup.
2) Some people have the money to do these things in stages only. They'd sure like to get it all, but sometimes it's not worth maxing out a credit card and paying ridiculous ****ing 12-19% interest, etc.
3) For the most part, some people just want a certain exhaust tone, and a certain level of performance and don't want to take it past that level. They want the car around 300RWHP, and they're plenty happy.
I do understand where you're coming from, but I don't think that trying to hit 300RWHP with a few bolt on mods is unreasonable. You can actually do it for less than 1100 with the right tuner. If you go with a good set of long tubes, you're still only at like 2500 tops.

C&L Racer, and Brenspeed 93 octane tune put me at 298 HP. Adding underdrive pulleys freed up more HP to get me to 310 HP, on stock exhaust manifolds, stock H-pipe and Flowaster axle-back (said to be slightly more restrictive than most other axle-backs). That combo was good for the time/mph in my sig below on stock BFG street tires.

If you have an 87 tune, and run 93, it's not gonna really do much to help you, but atleast if you do that you won't have engine damage.
If you have a 93 tune, and you run 87, you could have some serious issues.

Had I stayed the course for N/A, it would have looked something like this...
- Good tuner and CAI = $600.
- Cams, springs, and install = $2,000.
- Long tube headers, high flow cats, and axle back = $2,500.
- Better heads = $3,000+.
- Bigger throttle body, spacer, and CMCV deletes = $700.
- UDP's or Meziere electric water pump = $200 to $500.
- and the list goes on.
I looked long term and bought a basic blower that should yield low 12's in the 1/4 mile with my combo, and should I end up with the extra money to upgrade to the intercooler (back to modding in stages, guilty as charged), then for that extra $1500 I'm into the 11's and will have spent thousands less than had I stayed naturally aspirated.
But, back to mustang68w's original question. If someone wants 300 rwhp, then a few well-selected bolt on's is all it takes to get you there (or a whole slew of not-so-well selected bolt on's). 300 rwhp would be enough to run high 12's and is more than enough for most enthusiasts.
My own personal conclusion was that for just a little more money, a standard blower could be had and more power would be made. Everyone told me to get the intercooled HO blowers to make big #'s (400-450 rwhp is common), but those were out of my budget. The standard blowers have plenty of power to run very quick (350-375 rwhp) and are upgradable should I find more money to spend later.

I really appreciate all of feedback I am getting from everyone on both the na and forced air sides. It definitely gives me something to think about. I'm not necessarily looking for 12's or 11's in the quarter, though I wouldn't mind it as a by-product. I'm just looking to make an already peppy car a little more responsive with a little more power.

Speaking of which, I have a JLT II CAI that I installed on my '07 GT last November, and removed in May when the supercharger replaced it. 6 month old CAI that looks/functions like new if anyone is interested.
