My vote.. 3:90

When I do my rear end I'll go with 3:90 because it's a nice compromise and wont kill my gas mileage that much.

Hey CR,

I plan on doing 3.90's as well. However, I didn't find these gears from Strange gears website.. Do you have a link? And how much for a complete package (gears, bearings, etc)?

TIA

I had 3.90's and then went to the 4.10's. You won't notice a difference in gas mileage between the two, at least I didn't. I'd go with the 4.10's and be done with it.

.
It's more a matter of playing with different ratio's till I find something I like. I just felt that when I was using the highways, mostly at 100km/h/60mph here, the 3.55's were a bit too low. Now I find the 4.10's a bit too high, especially if I drop stateside where the limits are 70/75mph. Like you, I got the gears for a decent price when I was in San Antonio the winter before last. They want roughly $400cdn here and I'll be making another trip stateside shortly for a better deal. I do the installs myself and save on the labor. As for the tires, I'll wait till the oem's wear out. I hope to take advantage of some of the factory take off wheel/tires if they're still available later. I prefer to keep my GT stock looking and wouldn't mind having a set of the factory painted aluminum wheels as well as my bright machined wheels.

If your rolling diameter is much different from the front to back...
I believe you will trigger a trouble code.
Am I wrong?

The 3.90s are a magic gear for the old car-4.10s were too much, 3.73's not enough, but the increased diameter of the tire package on the S-197 pretty much makes the 4.10's the equivilent setup.

besides reduced MPG, what else about 4.10 gears makes other ratios better for a daily driver?? and what kind of drop in MPG are we talking about.. i've got an '07 GT and plan to fit some 20" wheels soon.

Ive got 390s now...Will the overall ratio decrease because of the bigger width tires that I am putting on the back? 295/35rear and 255/40front?
