Chris, I honestly have not seen anyone post they regret going to 4.10's (on the '05), unless they had an install issue. Fourth gear on the freeway and you'd swear the car will never stop pulling!

Do you mean your "rev limiter" or do you really mean you set your "redline" at 6900?

Where are you shifting? I keep hearing the Tuners say that the rev limiter should be set no more than about 6200. Seems low to me but....

I'm still waiting on someone around here that can give me a custom tune. The Predator that came with my blower has me shifting at 6,000rpm, yet on a dyno run the power is made well out to about 6500-6600rpm (maybe more be that was the end of the run).

With a redline set at 6900rpm, I'm assuming your limiter is set at least at 7100rpm. I'm sure you know this, but don't EVER miss a shift with those settings! :nono:

Welp, I just pulled the trigger. My car goes in on Wednesday to have 4.10s installed!

Clem, I'll let you know the results.

Good for you, Chris! You'll love them, I'm sure. For the first couple of weeks it will feel like you're driving a different car. I drove like a maniac during that time. Word of caution - be careful ripping 2nd gear with the new 4.10's, even with the TC on. I've gotten sideways bad without having the TC ever kick in. Talk about a rush of adrenalin!

My replacement FRPP 4.10's have arrived and I'll probably be getting them swapped next week too.

I wish you the best as far as a noise free install goes. What brand gear are you using and who's installing? I haven't been driving mine much because of the howl I'm getting from my Precision's. They could use that noise to help with police interrogations. I know I'm ready to crack!

I am getting a set of Motive gears. From what I hear they manufacture all of the FRPP gears above 4.10. I am having them installed at Justins Performance Center in Glen Burnie.

Just curious where did you buy your gears from? I'm in College Park and considering going out to Glen Burnie to have them install my gears in the future. Thanks!

JPC stocks the gears, so I got the total package from them. All I have to to is drop my car off in the morning and pick it up in the evening.

Hey Terp, I live across Adelphi Rd. from the campus in University Hills. Surprising that we haven't seen each other around. There are very few of us around here.

Chris, I did not know that Motive makes the FRPP 4.10's. You sure about this? If so, I should just buy the Motives for a bunch less. I've been waiting for weeks to get a set of the FRPP's as availability appears to be very low. Mine came all the way from Washington.

Edit: You said they manufacture the FRPP gears above 4:10's.

How much are they charging for the whole setup?

I'm sure some people are going to say that's absolutely ridiculous but hey, that's the way it goes on the east coast.... anyway, $650, out the door.

I think that is about $75-$100 cheaper than here in So Cal at a reputable shop. (Noticed diesel at 3.499 here today). Has a great deal to do with where you live. Most shops here I talked with don't want to deal with the hassles of installing differentials, too many headaches and too much other business that's easier to handle. Less brainpower, fewer come-backs, more profitable.

I paid $620 total (parts/tax & labor) for FRPP 4.10s at JBA Racing here in San Diego. Since I have had none of the problems others have had with new gears, I think it was money well spent.
