3.55 gears for GT
#2
You can probably find 3.55 take offs really cheap.
But why 3.55s??
Slap in a 3.73 like I did.
The most expensive part of the swap is not the gear itself but labor (unless you're doing it yourself which I dont reccomend unless you've done it before).

the reason is..
i just want to get a little extra kick...nothing crazy...
so when on the highway its still very comfortable, gas mileage is good.....
also, i read some about a tuner who tested gears on auto. GT's and said 3.55 is the best...
in the future if i want to do supercharger, 3.55 will fit it fine...

Richmond 4:10's are great, will definitely give you that kick your looking for. If thats too much 3:73's are another great choice. You cant go wrong with either one.

There generally is no wt. savings between manufacturers gear sets ... the ring and pinion wt. is what it is for a particular ratio ... okay there might be a few grams difference, but nothing like a pound or two.

I have two sets of Ford 3.55 gears for sale...... one set came from my '06 GT and the other from my '04 Mach 1. $50 plus shipping if you're interested.

i think is is about 2100 rpm. 50 bucks for a low mileage set is not bad. i liked using a new set because when you use a used set it should go back with the same backlash & rolling torque that it was set at originally. when you go new you just have to have it in spec. no matter what you do make sure that you get a new install kit.

The 4.10s that I have in my '06 GT now I bought used from a guy here last year, and the local mom & pop install shop that does all my gear installs put them in within a couple of hours and had no problems- and the car was (is) new enough that I didn't buy the $100 install kit- they just used a new crush sleeve and synthetic lube. My parts total was less than $50 if I remember right.
