275/40/18 Tire Recommendations

I am looking for some tires in 275/40/18. I have dedicated snow tires, so I only need tires that perform well in the dry and rain. Currently the front runners are Kumho MX's. What else are you guys running? Any recommendations?

How are they in the wet? I've read mixed reviews, but my friend ran them on his 04 Z06 and stated they were fine in the wet. In the dry, they are some of the stickiest street tires you can buy for the money.

They are ok in the wet. I drove the other day in a downpour on the interstate and my tires are still the ones from last season and measure at 5/32nd's.

My driving style goes pretty concervitive in the wet but i think they work fairly well.

In the dry they rock!

Great tires for the ultimate in rain Goodyear GS-D3

Neither tire is cheap at around $300.00 a tire.

You know I am a fan of the MXs, but lately I've been reading good things about the BridgeStone RE050A Pole positions. They are the replacement for the S-03s, which are the best tires I have ever personally owned (I've also had 555s, GY F-1s, GSCs and BFG Comp T/As). The Kumho's are slightly less expensive though .

I just did some reading on the RE050A's and they seem like a great tire. I wonder how the ultimatre grip of these are though in the dry. In the wet, they get really good ratings.

Well, if they are anything like my S-03s they are amazing. To tell the truth I didn't really notice any dry traction difference between 555s and S-03s. I DID notice a big difference between S-03s and F-1's, but to be fair the F-1s were very worn and the S-03 were brand new.
To me the real difference in tires is wet traction. THAT is where the Bridgestones set themselves apart. There was little drop off in performance on wet rainy days. Whereas I actually used to avoid driving in the rain on my old Goodyears. Nittos did a decent job in the rain (it didn't make me nervous to drive them) but I wasn't nearly as confident.
All this said, I have not driven the MXs. I think they are a great tire for the price. I would just buy the bridgestones based on my past experience considering they have very similar ratings to the Kumhos.

Toyo T1R's seem very good in the rain... I never really push it super hard in the rain, but they seem to grip well, and it's been cold out here (CT) so the tires aren't warm... Pretty confidant rain tire though...

Fuggaddabout driving with them in the snow though....
