2011 GT Brakes onto 2005 GT

so i have a line on the front calipers, pads, and rotors (non-brembo) off a 2011 gt with less than 50 miles on them... could i bolt these onto my 2005 gt? i know my current rotor size is 12.4 inches and i believe the standard brakes on 2011+ gts are 13.2 inches up front?

I saw a guy do it on another forum. He researched all the part #'s & bought everything. Turned out all he needed was the rotors & brackets.

If the rotors are bigger, thus increasing the swept area of the brakes, wouldn't you need different brake pads? I could see the calipers being the same as the older S197, but the pads would need to change, as well.

On my old Sable, I put SHO brakes on it, which necessitated a bracket change, pad change, and rotor change.

Hopefully it's not against any rules here to post links from other forums. If so I apologize. Here's the one I'm referring to:

I'm thinking about doing it too. He said he noticed a little bit better braking. I want to do the Brembo setup eventually, so this would be a good temporary fix until I get the $$. Not bad for a couple hundred bucks.

If cost is an issue, why not try upgrading the pads and switching SS lines on your current set up first?

So lets get this straight, all I need to buy is rotors and a brackets? Sold. I could use that extra .8" to fill the wheel in a bit. My brakes look so small in there.

I agree. If you're going to spend a couple hundred dollars you could get some good pads and ss lines. Throw a couple hundred more at it and you'll get some Powerslot slotted rotors, if that's what you want or feel you need that much brake. Pads/lines and a fluid flush depending on your mileage can do WONDERS.

I would entertain Brembos, however...

way ahead of ya haha. Ive got ebc red stuff pads and stoptech lines. boss 302 cooling ducts too. now i was just looking for some bigger rotors both for looks and more swept area/heat absorption, especially since the stock calipers seem to clamp reasonably well

just got the new rotors installed... went on without a hitch. Its such an easy swap. Just replace the old bracket with the new one and the caliper goes right back on over the bigger rotor.

at the local dealer they wanted nearly twice what motorcraft's own website had them for... 119 vs 66 each. needless to say i bought them online.

Brakes do feel a little more powerful now from what i can tell... hope its an actual performance gain not just my imagination. even if it just me, im positive theyll hold up under repeated use better. braking is smoother too but i chalk that up to the fact that my old rotors were cheap chinese slotted knock-offs haha

well, everything seems to be working fine. braking is smooth and powerful. i was at the dragstrip this weekend and they hauled my 3700 lb stang down from 100mph repeatedly with ease. they fill out the space behind the wheel really well too
