2010 strat bar brace in 05 - 09?

Haven't gotten much response in Ford OEM section, so I'll ask here.

I have a convertible GT and want to put in the strut tower brace. I like the 2010 brace, and want to know if it will fit under the hood. It looks like it will.

Does it?

Cheers

Hood clearance prevents it from fitting on the 05+

It *can* be done, but you need to trim out the center beam of the hood - I don't recommend it, but I saw a customer car with this done, so.... it can work, but it is not a simple bolt-on.

If you had an aftermarket hood, you'd probably be in a lot better shape, I know my suncoast hood would've cleared it without issue.

But if you don't want to hack your stock hood, and don't have an aftermarket hood, then the answer is no.

HTH.

Acording to a online shop who shall remain nameless, the strut tower brace fits the 05-07 stangs with minur rubing of the liner, and the 08-09 with no issues.

I am guessing wild claims? They even show an 06 with it installed but this is one of those things that you have to see live before you do anything stupid like damaging an aluminum hood.

So, either the centre beam in the hood is in the way, or just the head liner?

Contradicting info - great...

Could they mean the '08-'09 Bullitt brace? It might rub on a '05-'07. The hood liner changed on the '08-'09s, or so I've heard.

blueovalindustries is claiming otherwise.

I was reporting on what a customer had brought to our facility that I had personally seen. The under hood liner had also been removed. Given the amount of clearance it has over the plenum, what I saw would seem to make sense. We have not installed one on a customer car, and I don't have any intention of doing so, I was just trying to give a data point for reference.

SHR,

I was not wanting to come across as a dick. I wanted imput and am getting it. Just being sacrastic.

It just seems that as of right now, it seems the only way to be sure, is to actually buy it, have it shipped to me and try it myself. I am hoping to be 100% certain before I pick up a phone to order, that is all. As of right now, I don't have that certainty

Cheers

No harm no foul - it's always hard to read intentions in internet quotes....

What I was trying to say though was that this is something I have personally seen and I have a 2010 here as well. Given how low the Agent 47 brace and others are that are offered for the 05-09 cars, I don't see it working all that well. I was just trying to save someone from spending the money and being disappointed, that's all. I didn't do the cutout of the hood, so I don't know if it was 100% absolutely required, but I can't imagine the customer in question did it "just for fun".

I'll go take pictures in a few minutes of the height difference between the 10 and an 05-09 piece, and we can go from there with it.

I'm curious also. I almost bought a Bullitt brace but wanted to read up more on the '10 style strut tower brace fitting over the plenum cover and not rubbing the '09 hood. Thanks.

Updated information - tested 3-6-10

Today I had a customer car here at the shop that was getting the Agent 47 double-barrel brace that we stock, and I asked if it was okay if we test fitted the 2010 piece to his car. He was okay with it, so I went and stole the one off of our 2010 and installed it on his. I don't like that the 2010 only uses 2 of the 4 strut bolts, but other than that, it's not bad for a stock piece. It sits 1/8" higher than the Agent 47 piece, but clears the hood and just barely rubs the engine blanket on the edges, if at all.

YMMV, but as it stands right now, I'm going to have to say the customer who cut his hood didn't need to do so. Although there is a brace in-line with the STB, it doesn't interfere, and therefore no cutting should be required.

Hope that helps anyone looking to go with the stock piece.

Thank You, what year was the test car?

Yeah but I wouldn't get anything from blueovalindustries. They have terrible customer service and I have heard stories of things been beatup, broken, scratched, damaged and then you have to deal with their terrible customer service to try and get it replaced. In my opinion, its not worth getting from them.

KC can get it for about the same anyway as Blueovalindustries. I'd go with him, as I will.

Cheers
