2008 Mustang GT Alternator install?
Been looking - can't find any instructions on alternator install.. is it really simple? Anyone have instructions?
My stock alternator went out at 25k (it's 2/3 out right now.. just weak, not totally out yet), and I was told I can't get it replaced under warranty, because of all my aftermarket audio equipment.
Is this something I can do on my own, without special tools?
I'm looking at ordering a PA Performance 200A alternator online right now...

Eh i am thinking about this, i know the stock battery has had some recalls but i am having a strange feeling that it is my alternator that is not keeping my battery charged. I should be ordering my Aeroforce dual interceptors soon and i will see if i really need a new battery or a new alternator.

Should be a process very similar to this:

I just went through this myself on my 05, it's a 20min process

Alternator replaced. Those instructions were great - only thing is that I also had to remove the throttle body to get the alternator off, and also had to buy a belt tensioner release tool.
Also - D'Agostino Racing shipped extremely fast. Ordered Friday, shipped Monday - arrived Tuesday.

The wire upgrade is manditory with the 200A - and if you buy from the link in my earlier post, you get the wire with the alternator.
It's essentially still plug and play: You leave your old wire in, and still plug it into your new alternator. The new wire you run IN ADDITION to the old wire, straight to the battery. That way, you have: double the wire to run more current / less resistance/heat. Also it may save you if you have warranty issues, because your stock wiring is still intact.

It is extremely important to upgrade the alternator wire. And I'd upgrade the ground from the battery to the chassis too. Well at least that's what I did.

BTW, you can use a 1/2" socket wrench to release the tension on the belt tensioner. It just goes right in. No need to buy the tool from Ford.
