2008 GT suspension questions

Hey guys and gals, first let me pass along a good deal I got. I wanted to get some new shocks and struts. My stang has 80K on it and I don't want to spend a lot of $$ so i was looking for some Take-off shocks and struts. I found some take-off struts at Roush, $50.00 for both. Now, I have an 08 and these are for a 2012 or 13. For the fifty buck a roos I got 2 struts and the strut bearings. The bearings are different then my old ones, they have a rectangular top plate and they seem taller. I have herd that the 2011-13 struts are shorter. The strut bearings are a bit taller so it would make up the difference. The Roush web site said they would be an upgrade and fit the 2005-09 mustang so I kinda was taking their word that they would fit. I tried the search and couldn't find what I was looking for and I thought I would pass along the good deal. I mean I can't get one strut for fifty bucks let alone 2 struts AND the strut bearings! the strut bearings are part number BR33-18183-CD. Was hoping the clunking sound would go away as a bonus.

Welp, I used the 2012 struts and strut bearings on my 2008 GT. The only thing is the dust boot on the old strut won't work on the new strut bearing. I had to modify it to work, but for 50 bucks it was WELL WORTH IT. My old struts were shot, dead, kaput. AND for now the dreaded CLUNK is gone. For now. Hope this will help someone.

I feel like i'm gonna jinx it, but I think I fixed the THUNK CLUNK sound!!! I replaced the struts and strut bearings with units from a 2012 mustang GT and now my car drives and sounds like the 32,000 car it is!! The only mod I had to do was to the boot that go's over the strut. The 2008 strut boot that I had would not fit in the 2012 strut bearing. So I trimmed off the cap on the boot and zip tied it to the strut itself. The top of the boot acts as a washer for the rod of the strut against the strut bearing so I added a stainless washer where the strut rod touches the strut bearing. If you want to keep it all stock you could order the boots from Ford. I am so happy with my quiet Stang right now.
