Hello.........I need to know if the 2006 GT uses the CAN protocal for compatablity with scan tools like proscan. Older fords CPUs use PWM. I have one for PWM but it doesn't work so I am assuming I need CAN. Any input will be a great help.

Yes, they use the CAN network (ISO 11898 protocol).

I'm in between Frankfort and Georgetown. I originally wanted something like Autotap, but that was before I knew about the flash tuners. I now have an SCT X-cal2 and I can read codes in both mine and my wife's car. I'd recommend this one (or an equivilant such as Diablosport) as you can also datalog and make changes to your tune.

Edit: duh, I just noticed your sig says you already have an X-cal2.

Yeah I got an Xcal 2 but I have never got the darn thing to work when it comes to datalogging or displaying spark knock..ect. It does read DTC's though. After numerous emails to the place I got it from and numerous searches on the SCT site and installing the downloads and reinstalling the downloads and rerereinstalling the downloads I said to heck with it. For all I know it could be something wrong with my laptop or probably some nothing thing I overlooked. BUt on the positive side the CAI 93 tune I got with it really made a SOTP difference. Smooth idle...instant throttle response...no hesitation from idle to the shift.....it pulls really hard for an otherwise stock car. BTW I am South of you. About 30 miles south of Danville in Casey Co. Nice to almost meet you

The 05-ups dont have the ability in the SCT software to monitor the knock sensor for the time being. They are working on having that PID installed. If you'll watch commanded spark and graph it if you see a major drop then that's your knock sensor or something retarding your timing.

Later Doug
