FYI

The Factory Valve Covers on the 05 Mustang are Magnesium. I ordered a pair of replacement valve covers to see how they would polish up. This is not chrome it is just polished by a Pro. You can do this yourself if you are patient and know how to polish magnesium. I am considering offering these on an exchange basis so your car would not have to be down while your covers were being done! The Factory covers are very expensive so most people would probably not want to buy a set and have it done! Anyway I just got these and have not figured the cost yet! If anybody is interested let me know. Also it took me two weeks to get these as they were backordered! If you are considering having a local polisher do the job make sure you show them what they are getting into. There are lots of nooks and crannies and its not a fun job! They may quote you a price and then rethink it once they see the cover.

Enjoy

Excellant looking job! I had done the same thing with a set and posted in the the "Exterior mods" section. Your polisher did a great job on the "Nooks and crannies". Did you spray them with any coating?

I will try and work up pricing tommorrow! Now I have to get the other one polished! It took twice as long to get one from Ford vs the other! Worst case scenario I will put them on my car! Would you rather buy them outright or exchange?

Looks great! What kind of maintenance would be involved in keeping them looking good? Would it be a lot of time/work?

what is the effort involved in getting those off? I used to change valve covers on old muscles all the time, but this seems like it is pretty involved?

Thanks

Sam

Interested. Would prefer the exchange route. Need cost so I can beg the wife. <--- Sounds pathetic I know but she's pregnant, if I argue with her she'll just end up crying and making me feel like the biggest hiney in the world. Besides, she did agree to the Stang!

Thanks,

Jason

I powdercoated mine.

look just as nice!

I know BBR charges $125+core for them. But that includes prep work and you have hundreds of differnt colors to chose from as well as just plain polished/chrome.
