Would go with long tubes if your going through all the trouble of changing them out.

What he said. Shorties don't really gain you anything. No point in switching then out unless you are going longtube

I think it would be much easier than doing the long tubes. I would guess around 4+ hours. Half the header bolts you have to get to from under the car and the other half from the top.

My opinion also.
Why do the work for nothing.
I had LTs on my white 2006.
Most of the rest of the exhaust was changed too.

I have BBK headers and high flow catted x pipe on mine and very happy with fit and finish. Stainless FTW! I think KOoks are one of the more expensive headers out there great quality though

Good = KOOKS, but they are expensive. But, you get what you pay for and that is great quality.
Good and inexpensive, I would recommend American Racing Headers.

If your Stockton is the one in CA, remember none of the LTs are CARB legal. "smogging" is an issue without "contacts." I got a set of macs off a friend for doing some work and love them. Install is a HUGE PITA, but shorties require about 80% of the work and only give about 20% of the gain.

^^ This^^ Even with contacts the CHP and local depts. have the authority to do random visual inspections and impound on the spot. STAR testing won't pass you without everything checking out visually and OBDII wise. Don't even mess with trying to skirt it. I am part of a small locall mustang group and two of our members cars were stopped on other traffic violations (tint) and impounded because of long tunes and o2 sensors turned off. They ain't fugging around in CA anymore.

There are no long tubes on the market that are CARB EO approved. JBA CAT4ward are the only approved shorty headers.

I'm actually in phx az now. I want everything to pass smog with no inside connections meaning no one needing to turn the blind eye. Any suggestions? I'm about to say screw it and keep the stock on and just upgrade my exhaust from Axel back.

I don't know AZ smog regs but I would look for info there. They are a pretty awesome state, gun laws, illegals etc so you may be okay with long tubes and cat conv.
