 Man, im STUMPED again. These sound louder than Borlas...Am I right or wrong? And I believe that is ONLY the axle back on the sound clips...99% sure.

What do you guys think? This or Borla?

Hey, I said I wasn't getting involved I told you to get Borla.......period. Based on what you said you wanted it to sound like, Borla is the perfect system. You had the same criteria as I did and I went through all the systems as well and decided on Borla. I passed over the SLP, Bassani and Magnapacks (all of which were less expensive as well) for Borla.

But, I guess I'll comment anyway .......

Honestly, as far as loudness, you can't tell from a video. It depends on the microphone etc... The stock exhaust sounds loud on some video's.

Either way, that is by no means deep or throaty. Its actually raspy. Not my kind of sound.

Dan...any chance of you having another clip of your car in a similar fashion of the Hooker GT? Like driving away from the camera or something? If not, any chance that you can/will make one? :worship:

Chris,

I was all over that after seeing it from when you posted it in the Exhaust thread. I think it sounds great

Unfortunately that is NOT only the axle-backs. I e/m'd Hooker and this is their reply:

"That car has a set of 6233-1HKR Hooker long tube headers with a
16684HKR x-pipe and a 21521HKR axle back exhaust kit."

So that just upped the $$$.

And that is why it sounds that way with chambered mufflers on it.

There is no chambered muffler made by anyone that will be as loud or deep as SLP Loudmouths, Borla S-Types or their Ford Racing counterparts with the stock exhaust manifolds.

Chris,

I would say if your on a budget and want a good sound get the SLP. If you got the bank get the Borla's. With the SLP you get loud with little or no power loss. With the Borla is get loud with maybe a tad more deepness and a very small power gain. With a good tune either one is a wash. It's up to you if you want to spend $225 or $800 ish.

Also, when you watch the video, listen to the tire chirps...they sound distorted and "weird"...so that is definitely NOT the way the Hooker mufflers will sound in person. In short, the sound quality is horrible on this clip, and i wouldn't base any buying decision off these vids.

IMHO, of course :-)

(Im sure Borlas will make me happy, though )

Flowmaster American Thunder Axle-Backs are really reasonable in price and sound wicked with an off-road x-pipe. That's what I'm running and I couldn't be happier. Now I just need to find a great set of shortie headers to make it sound even better.

Ooooh yea the American Thunders sound awesome. I, on the other hand, have decided to go with Borla catbacks .
