Sort of anwered my own question about backspacing between the 04 and 05 versions of Mustang wheels from Ford. Most of the 04's and earlier are 5.72" backspacing. The 05's are 5.295" backspace. Here's some tech info on backspacing:

http://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html#wheeltrm

If I read all that stuff right, when mounted an 04 rim will sit "out" .425" farther than the 05 rim. I'm not sure what the approx. 15mm offset difference would make to overall handling performance.

FYI, Mark.

OE BULLIT TIP!

If you are going to buy the OE style Bullit wheels for your V6 car and you have the spinners it is more cost effective to buy the service replacement wheels vs the accessory kit wheels. With the kit wheels you get lug nuts and spinners which you already have! It a pretty good savings! I thought I would pass that along.

Well I voted for the machined wheel, afterall, they are on my car so I'd better vote for them. I am tired of seeing Bullits on every Mustang out there, but I only like the machined wheel because of that. I still might put the American Racing Torq Thrust II's with a custom offset on my car. That way I can slap 305's on the rear. The will look sorta like that black photoshopped car earlier on in this post.
Am looking at Cragar SS to get the look of the Black GT you mentioned. Going with 255/50 and 275/50 in back. Will have gold racing stripes. Did you use paint or vinyl stripes.

I'll chime in as well,

I love the bulltts along with most people here. I find the machined rims too busy for 17" They would probably look better if they were a larger size like 18"

When I get my '05 I will probably look at upgrading to 18" wheels as well, unless I end up waiting until '06 and get the fanblades.

Attached a poll for ya.
I think the spiiners from the Ford Accessories catalog run about $90. Try checking www.cheapfordparts.com. The spiiners there are about $70, and the center cap has the running horse emblem instead of the Blue oval emblem.

As far as I'm concerned you can keep both of those wheel options. To me the 18" FANS are the only way to go. They should've been in production for the 05's thye better be offered on the 06's. Ford talked the talk but didn't or couldn't walk the walk. Lets get those BFG's on the 18" Fans, you'll see them sell like mad.
