Just came across this post – I have been away from the sites for a few months I guess. I would respectfully like to throw my hat in the ring. It makes no difference who was first or last to the table only what sounds the best in your mind and does the price reflect the quality. We think GMS hit the mark on both counts – you decide

Seems like eliminating the cats might cause warranty issues. I was under the impression that eliminating the cats would require a tune.
I just had the JBA's installed. My car has an otherwise stock system. The JBA's are louder than stock at idle with a deeper tone. Very good sound. When you get on it they sound reaaal niiiice! I've only had them on for a couple of days and so far the only negative thing I can say is that they had more drone (1200-1500 rpm) than both the stock muffler and the Magnaflows I recently removed, but it's not enough to bother me. These are not the loudest, but that's what I was looking for....a little louder with a nice deep muscle tone. |
this is a great place to quote prices... many of us would love to know what your systems cost.....
thanks for the info. this may be in my mod list someday soon, depending on price. |
Granatelli- You say the first system is for the 2005-2008 Mustang GTs yet you post a clip of a GT500, which as you know is running a completely different engine then the standard 4.6 GT. :dunno:

More and more I am leaning that way. Do they carry a good warranty? I remember reading about someone having trouble dealing with the company on warranty replacement on a loose internal. Directly with JBA. I also personally want to stay away from a baffle design as my flowmaster on my other car has rusted and became rattly. I understand that they make some of the best headers. Wonder if their mufflers are similar quality? It's funny that you mentioned the flowmasters because I had originally ordered flows last summer. When they arrived (UPS had handled them with their usual TLC:rolleyes: ) and I found the box with holes in it from the tubes. The tube end were damaged so I sent them back. Then I found the posts about the internal baffles on the flowmasters and decided to change to magnaflows. The mags were a little too quiet for my taste, though they sounded good at WOT. I almost pulled the pin on purchasing a set of Borla stingers but was afraid I would p*** the neighbors when I go to work at 5:30AM due to their loudness. I started considering the JBA's thinking they would be somewhere in between the stock muffler and the louder stinger style. It was Kristina (Rondosa on this forum) who convinced me to check out a few youtube videos of the JBA's. That along with her description of how they sounded convinced me to try them. I'm happy I did and completely satisfied with the sound both in loudness and tone. For me, they were exactly what I was looking for :nice: |

2.5 inch cat back $345.00 - This is all 304 stainless not cheap 409. Don't get me wrong 409 is OK but 304 is MUCH MUCH more durrable and way better. It also cost a ton more to make and bend 3.0 inch Exh Manifolds back - $650.00 - Same material, same quality |
That's a very large price jump for the Manifold back system.

Magnaflow wants $2300.00 list and the best price on the net is $1300.00 it makes less poer then GMS and i think it is made of 409 material - they don't call out the material specifically - Roush wants $700 for Over Axle Back 2.5" - Ouch! SLP wants $450 for axle back - 409 material as well Pypes wants $360 for 409 catback - there is no Comparison Gibson - they have 304 materail - just $675.00 Ford Racing / Steeda System - Just $511.00 axle back Borla Cat Back - $756.00 I can keep going - at the end of the day - you can't beat our quality, sound or PRICE:nice: If you have to have a famous name in exh then so be it. Granatelli has been a name you can trust and we brought these systems to market in September 2004 for the foirst car we got out hands on. We have sold this system to 4 others companies that rebrand it as their own - you won't be sorry |
if you bought the cat back is it possible to upgrade to the manifold back without replacing all of it???
|
Gottcha thanks!

I have the 2.5" GMS cat-back. It is sounds and performs awesome also it is beautiful. If you're looking for a headache producing, loud droning unit, don't buy these, others have that market covered.
|
i also have the jba longtubes and a 2.5" h-pipe and magnaflow system. honestly, if you do the math, a 2.5" exhaust system is the appropriate system for these mustangs. a 3" system is too big for the current engine setups.

I ended up getting the Borla S-type. (Stingers).
They are not near as loud as people make them out to be. They are perfect I'd say. The only think that some people might not like is that they tend to pop on closing the throttle. I like it. Gives the car a raw engine sound. |

The Corsas will do that stock (burble/pop on decel)....
With the high flow H pipe, its even more now  love it :nice: |
Mine's otherwise stock but they are brand new so maybe it will change after breakin.
