Anyone have pictures of the CDC Shaker with an CAI?

My wife does not want me to get one either. Her reason is that she can't see over it.
I adapted mine to the C&L CAI.

Thanks. I don't mind adding the saker with no power gains, but I don't see a point in adding it if you need to reduce your power by removing the CAI.

you don't have to remove the CAI at all, however, if you can enclose the filter on the CAI so only air coming from the shaker goes through the filter, then that would be ideal.

Please forgive my ignorance on this. The air comes in the shaker and goes to the CAI, and from there sucked into the engine through the normal CAI filter & pipe to the TB. Seems to me thats taking the long way home. My question is why not ditch the CAI and feed the engine directly or pretty much directly from the shaker?

I think you will still need the filter from the CAI or stock box.

exactly what Chris said. You still need to filter the air so it has to go through some sort of filter (CAI or stock) before entering the intake on the engine.

Don, I know you adapted yours to connect to the heat shield but I still think you would not be getting the full benefits (I know, there isn't much of a benefit to begin with) of an enclosed system. There is still a lot of warmer air entering the filter. Who knows, I could be wrong.

I have no doubt that I get more benefit from a CAI and a performance tune, than I would ever get by going back to the enclosed stock airbox. Even if CDC's claims are true (+6hp for the Shaker when connected to the stock box), I probably get over 20hp from the CAI+tune... regardless of the air temp. Switching back would cause me to lose 15hp or more, IMO. And the idea of enclosing the CAI filter shield would worry me, too. I'm not sure that the engine can draw enough air through the shaker piping alone to be totally efficient. It does seem to have some constrictive bends/kinks in it.

And to address the suggestion to "ditch the CAI and feed the engine directly or pretty much directly from the shaker"... you would also have to account for the MAF sensor in there somewhere. And as we all know, the placement and orientation of that piece is critical to the engines.

As for me, it will all be pretty much irrelevant here shortly. I'm planning on adding the Kenne Bell supercharger, and I'm about 95% sure that I will end up with a Shaker Scoop that is purely ornamental (gotta fill up that hole in the hood... hahah).

In no way was I suggesting to go back to the stock air box, that would be aweful. What I meant was that I don't think connecting it to the heat shield really does anything. You would need to make an enclosure for your air filter. That is what I am doing, but seeing as you are going with a KB, it would be a waste of your time to fab something up.

Aaahhh... I misunderstood you John. Keep us posted on your progress on your enclosed system... I'd like to see it.

Yep, that's how the 03-04 Mach 1 engines were set up. From the shaker to the air box (left side on those) into the MAF then the throttle body. And those air boxes were enclosed, which as stated above is ideal.

Click on the link to my blog below. I give detailed instructions and pics on how to install it. Pretty easy. Just takes a little bit of courage to start cutting the hole in the hood.

I think it comes with a rubber/plastic lip that goes around the interior cut so it should hide any very small problems you have with the edge. I think John routered the edge....?

For an update I have the Mrs 75% talked into it. I just need some photoshop
help. Anyone??

When I bought mine, I didn't care if is was worth zero hp... to me, the shaker scoop is not a performance mod. If it adds a few hp, that's just an extra bonus... but just as irrelevant.

Before I even took delivery of my car, I knew I needed to have a shaker scoop. Because my favorite car is a 69 Mach 1, I was going for a bit of the retro look with the thing.
I got mine after seeing Dons and i love it. I just got 30.1 on the highway at 70mph.not bad for a 05 gt auto, all so sonic blue by the way.Thank you for the pic. Don.
