All right all you gear heads. Tell me this. I've done some research and also emailed CDC, along with looking threw the search here for a thread on the CDC Shaker system. Only one reply stated 150rwhp increase with a supercharger added. When I emailed CDC and asked them for there HP, increase, there response was 6HP. Granted the shaker system looks cool, great, fantastic, whatever you want to call it. But would someone explain to me, that if this the only increase in HP, other then looks why would anyone want to pay roughly $140.00 per HP for there new 2005 Mustang. Again other then looks. I'm sure that for $140.00 I could come up with something that looked very similiar. It may not produce any more HP then what I have. BUT????? I think we all need to tell CDC, that for there price we would expect a lot more then just 6HP.

Let me all know what you think, and please leave the bad attidtudes, and pulpit lectures for someone else. :nono: I only want the facts......

When I bought mine, I didn't care if is was worth zero hp... to me, the shaker scoop is not a performance mod. If it adds a few hp, that's just an extra bonus... but just as irrelevant.

Before I even took delivery of my car, I knew I needed to have a shaker scoop. Because my favorite car is a 69 Mach 1, I was going for a bit of the retro look with the thing.

This same issue came up in another thread a few days ago. Like Don said, most people think of it as a exterior mod rather than a performance upgrade (Hence the reason this subject is often discussed in the exterior mods section rather than the performance section).

It's like adding painted LeMans stripes for $1000, or a ductail spoiler, or a new front fascia. All these things don't add any performance, but they are things that the owners wanted to make their car stand out from the crowd.

If you took the Ram Air shaker off the 03/04 Mach 1, you probably wouldn't notice too much of a performance difference, but you would definitely notice a visual difference.

Ya, time to dig up that old thread and close this one. Most people buy it for the looks. Not the 2% hp increase.

According to the Mach 1 program manager Scott Hoag, formerly of Ford and now MRT, the ram air set-up is worth a .2 sec reduction and 2-3 mph increase in trap speed in the 1/4 mile. You can definitely hear the induction noise at wide-open throttle at 80mph.

Like most everyone else, I did it because it sets your Mustang GT apart fromt the rest. The exhaust sound is deeper, in my humble opinion, and I have noticed a slight increase in speed.

You won't believe how many people stop me and ask it this is a new special edition type mustang from Ford.

Just my thoughts

For you guys with the Shaker Hood, is it safe to assume you have ruled out any type of twin screw or roots blower? Would this hood still work with a centri?

CDC's site shows the shaker connected to a procharger, but that is about it.

My plan (for months) has been to keep the Shaker and run a Saleen blower. But, I know I will have to have some custom fab work done on the hood. But, I'm also watching all the updates on the KB and Whipple SCs as well... don't want to rule out anything just yet. They both look like they sit lower than the Saleen.

Using the Shaker with a centrifugal SC looks to me like it would work fine... just some customizing of the air inlet plumbing.

I may edit this out and I hate to say it....but my wife wont let me put a shaker on it and I dont want to sleep on the couch. But if she would let me I would do it in a heartbeat. She doesnt think it would look good with the stripes. I'm waiting to see some pictures of another striped Screaming Yellow GT with it so I can show her.

I can't speak for CDC but the Fang shaker has been mated to the Vortech S/C and a turbo system (Hahn). I contacted both Fang and Whipple and they both said the Whipple will work. Like Don W said, the Saleen will take serious mods to make it work.

Anyone have pictures of the CDC Shaker with an CAI?

My wife does not want me to get one either. Her reason is that she can't see over it.

I'm currently working on a housing that will allow me to connect the shaker to the filter of my CAI. For now the outlet on the shaker just sits next to the filter so it is not a closed system. No big deal really cause there really isn't a performance benefit to the shaker. It is mainly for looks.
