Has it been determined what the biggest wheel/tire width will fit the '05's? I found a set of 17x10.5 (rear) & 17x9's (front) that I'm thinking about going with. What is the largest tire that would fit on there (realistially, not bulging over)?

Lots of folks running 285s, 295s in back. What offset was the 17x10.5? If it's wrong, they will stick out of the fenderwell.

Size & Offset: 17x9, offset ET24 (Front), 17x10.5, offset ET27 (Rear)
Bolt Pattern: 5x4.5

I wonder if the offset is correct. Is there a "max/min" offset that we can go with? I wonder what the "normal" size is for a 10.5?

If that means 24mm and 27mm, then they aren't correct for the '05. A "proper" fitting 9" wheel will have about a 40-45mm offset. My guess, is that a 10" (or bigger) will need even more offset.

When I had my car measured for new wheels, I was told 10" would be maximum for rear wheels.

Did they determine the correct offset for 10"? Maybe ~55mm?

Unfortunately, I don't know what off-set he finally came up with.

Offset is so confusing to me, does it matter what wheel it is?(brand) or will ALL wheels with the same width need the same offset. and what is a "proper Fitting 9" wheel" There is someone with the white Mustang with the chrome bullitts with a 36mm offset and it looks absolutely perfect. the wheels are flush with the wheel wells. BTW< I am not flaming you about the proper fitment, I am just wondering if that is a term that means something different to different people.

What you need to know about offset, there is no correct set on stone #, rather a range.
36 on a 9" wide rim is ideal to some people, like me who like it flush with the fender without stick out.
On a 10" rim I'd get 45.
Those are my preferences, but some poeple choose higher offsets to have them slightly in, but theres the risk of them rubbing inside.

Backspacing and offset are universal measurements... here is a good explanation: http://www.bentickner.com/tahoe/wheels.htm

Also, 36mm isn't very far from 40-45mm, so it wouldn't be as noticable (if at all, depending on the tire sidewall bulge). But 24/27 would be quite noticable. They would stick out past the fenderwell.

Oh and 10.5 wide rim @ 27 offset wouldn't rub, but would stick out a few inches past the fender.
It is bad for your car to have rims that stick out too much, not to mention it will look awful.

Does anyone have a 50mm or 55mm offset on their wheels? I think this is what I need for a 10" wide rim. If so can you post a pic of it? THanks!

on a 10 inch wide rim you can go 285/40 no problem with a 45 offset maybe even 295...i think there is a yellow 05 with 19inch ROH drift r wheels running 295's with no problem...if you do a search for the roh drift r you may find it if its not there its on www.stangnet.com

On a 10.5" wheel about 70mm positve offset would put the face of the wheel in the stock location, 57mm offset would put the face about 3/4" closer to the wheel lip. I'd say that an offset of 55-60mm would be just right given there is enough room between the wheel flange and the inner fender and shock and other chassis components.

I'm looking for a black/polished lip Bullet-style wheel in a 10in or 10.5in wide. I did find what I want in an 18x9 but it doesn't appear that they make a 17x10 or 10.5. :bang:
