Hopefully not a re-post. Just got my April issue of MM&FF. JDM Engineering did the work. Here are the mods:

SCT tune
MagnaFlow mufflers
Steeda pulleys
QA1 rear shocks
4.30 gears
Mickey Thompson E/T Streets
(**NO CAI was mentioned, only removal of the hydrocarbon trap**)

12.45 @ 107.92
1.68 60' times

Also of mention, they first ran it bone stock and got 13.395 @ 101.87. Then with the SCT tune and removal of the hydrocarbon trap ran a 13.109 @ 105.56 and a 13.125 @ 106.19. 60' times were 1.975 and 2.025 respectively, on stock tires for both runs.

Between these guys and JMS-chips pulling a 12.43 @ 107.23, both with fairly simple mods, I am really getting excited. I'm still a little skeptical ,but if true, with this type of power, who needs boost?

I'm all for this being true but if it is, you're talking beating the 1/4 mile time of some vettes.

Not everyone will be able to drive to those times.

Boy, Ford really dropped the ball with the new Mustang.

Whenever I hear someone say that, it takes all my strength to not punch them in the mouth.

the time slips are true, If you know how to slip the clutch off the line you can be runnig these times also, a buddy of mine that lives here in middle GA, has ran 13.30 at 100 mph in an absolutely stock 05 GT, (airfilter, stock tires, h/c trap, stock muffler) absolutely stock.....the key is leaving at a high rpm, so that you are in the power band, and then slipping the heck out of the clutch until you can floor it in first gear, the best I've been able to pull is 13.5 so far...but it's all about the driving

its not stock any more, i took out the h/c trap, and started using 93 octane, it runs 102 now.

exactly, should be able to get it down to a fine art after several runs, squeezing every ounce of torque/HP in a 1/4 mile run.

Just reread the article. Even better--they had 3/4 of a tank of gas and did not remove the spare tire, jack, or anything! :worship:

This is welcome news, actually. That is exactly how an all-wheel drive turbo is launched. Gotta keep the four force-fed little rats in the power band! I was worried I would have a terrible time making the transition from my WRX to the Mustang, since my time behind the wheel in a V-8 is limited to a few runs in my brother's Mustang.

I seriously need to spend a day at a track learning the art of "kicking hiney".

Of course I will not be changing the gears but I have done most of those other mods. Sahweet!

I thought this car had the "charge motion plates"??? I haven't read the full article in MM&FF, but I didn't notice its mention...

The JMS-chip car had charge motion plates, along with intake, pulleys, gears, tune and drag radials. This is a car done by JDM Engineering.

What is interesting is that the JDM car didn't have an intake (good for ~10-15rwhp) or charge motion plates (good for another ~5-10rwhp) and it still had a very similar time. Could be driver differences, weather differences, or track differences?

My guess is that since JDM used one of the top guys from SCT to tune it, they got an absolute killer tune on their car, whereas the JMS-chip car was using their off-the-shelf tune that they are selling to customers. That alone could make up the ~15-25 theoretical difference due to the parts.
