I just got a call from my dealer telling me I'm due for my 10,000mi check up. The only problem is I have almist 19,000 miles. How crutial is the 10,000mi check up?

I didn't do it either and I have the same mileage as you. I think it's just check fluids and crap anyway.

 

Basically its just and inspection for tires, brakes, battery service, lubricate latches etc & fuel system service. Dealer gets a little bent when you want to put anything other than Ford Oil in the mustang.

 

Not crucial. I got 10k and I am not planning to waste my time on checkup of tires, belts and hoses - I do it myself, and if I can anyone can Go by the manual on what and when needs to be replaced and you will be in a good shape. If unsure of something ask them to take a look during your next oil change, which should be coming up for you at 20k (every 5k by the book, assuming you have light load driving conditions).

 

The only problem with that is that it may negate your warranty if you don't have documentation of the scheduled services.

 

Get and keep the reciepts, photos, 5 eye witnesses holding a paper with the date on it, and bring a polygraph machine to the dealer with you to prove its all been done

 

They just needed your money, no big deal

Well before I went on a Holiday and put 5,000 on mine , I asked what say if I come back and its a few 1,00 over and technically they said yes it could have some repos on warrenty issues so I'd say have a good reason and remember these cars tell on us now with the computers they have, they plug it in and it tells them all your nasty habits ! unless you know how to fool it ? 2nd service is oil & tire rotation and really they only want the $$ as in the book it says depending on your driving say lot of city yes stick to the every 5,000 plan but highway I think good for 10,000 , best check the book :scratch:

 

My dealer checks my GT every 10,000 km (~6.250 miles), or else he would void the warranty. I know it's a PITA and a waste of money to drive the 150 miles back and forth to the dealership every 6 months just for an oil change and some admiring of my latest mods , but I just have to do it.

 

1) The DEALER can NOT void your warranty! Only a representative of the warranty PROVIDER (that's Ford by the way) can make that call. And he can only do it if he can prove that what you did caused the problem. So just because you didn't have an inspection done, doesn't mean they can void anything.

2) If they DO void the warranty because of a missed inspection, then they have to provide the inspection for FREE.

3) It's Federal law. Has been for a LONG time.

4) Yes, it would be a pain in the hiney fighting the dealer if they decided to be a *****, but it could be done.

 

yeah thats BS, none of my cars go back to the dealer except for warranty work. They dont have a problem with what i do.

Well this has a nice ring can we say sure you can change the oil if your buying ? oh well was a happy thought for a short moment.

 

Louie is in the Netherlands. They'll do the same thing at German dealerships. I'm covered under the US umbrella so I don't personnaly have to worry about it...but the rules are a bit different in Europe.
