08 vert axle back install nightmare-HELP!

Shiny new Mac's sitting on my garage floor. Can't get my drivers side OE muffler off though. Issue is this: Drivers side muffler has two rubber hangers. Rear one comes off easy, both bolts easy to get to. Forward one is a proving to be a complete *****. One of the hanger bolts is directly above the muffler, and for love nor money I cannot get a wrench in there to save my life. In case it matters, it's a convertible. Has anybody with an '08 had this problem, and if so, how did you get the **** drivers side muffler off? Everybody says it's easy to put an axle back on, but I am completely stumped. Oh, and if anybody who lives near Chelmsford, Mass wants to swing by and help me the beer and pizza is on me.

Yes, that bolt is a pain in the a$$. You need to get a ratcheting wrench, not a regular wrench and pull down on the muffler to get the wrench up there. I know this doesn't help much, but just letting you know it is a pain, but can be done.

I do have a ratcheting wrench but I can't even get it close. Does loosening the midpipe help get the muffler twisted down for more access?

You can also undo the clamp at the hpipe and slide everything back through the hangers.

i don't drink beer and i had pizza for dinner, but i would have no problem helping out another mustanger. but you are just a little ways away from me. i was able to get at mine and didn,t remove anything other than the mufflers clamp and hangers. i think if it is left to the last thing to take off you can the get to it.

Appreciate the suggestions. They're in. What a miserable experience. Minor leak on the passenger pipe that must be dealt with, but mean as hell, and I know what they mean by DRONE!
