08, 09, 10 owners - throttle pedal sensitivity
For owners of 08-10 Mustangs, can you comment on your stock throttle pedal sensitivity?
Is there any throttle lag (delay) from the time you stomp on the gas and when the engine/throttle responds?
Is there any dead-space where the first few inches of travel do not result in any change in engine RPM?
The reason I ask is that 05-07 owners have experienced this problem, and my Job 1 '07 had a 2006 part # on the pedal position sensor. I just ordered a new throttle pedal assembly using the original 2004 part #:4R3Z-9F836-BD, but the sensor had a 2008 part #. I'd just slap in this new pedal to give it a try, but I'm waiting on my GT500 pedal covers to arrive before I install the new throttle.
It looks like I have the same part # on the cover as the one in this thread:
https://themustangsource.com/showthread.php?t=457426
But I hooked up this new pedal and the dead-space seems to be gone. I didn't adjust it, it seemed to work out of the box.

I have an '08 and have the dead space. I tried the fix that is in the link you attached and I could not get the dead space to go away! I tried about 5 times of pulling the pedal out, making some adjustments and still was not able to get rid of it. I hate how companies continually try to go to newer technologies and end up putting more crap in the car and create future electrical problems and more costs. I wish we had the cable in our cars instead of the DBW. It has got to be cheaper and more reliable.

The other fix was to rotate the sensor cover counter clockwise (if you're looking right at the label). This seems to do the trick a lot better, but my intent with this new pedal is to just bolt it in, no adjustments.

It won't fix the dead-space, which is a hardware issue. I don't have any throttle lag with my stock 07 GT so I didn't really see a need to flash the PCM with a custom tune.
No dead space on my '06. It's as touchy as it can be.
P.S. have you ever driven a GT with a custom tune? If not I would highly recommend it because it seriously makes it seem like a different car...dead space or not. I was skeptical at first too, but when I got my tuner and tried it out I was an instant believer.

Yes I have. It's no different from a bone stock 08-up Mazdaspeed3 or my 09 Cobalt SS/TC. Ford can't seem to figure out how to make a drive by wire system that doesn't suck. Consider yourself lucky with your 06 GT.
FWIW I think the new pedal I bought was made properly, no dead-space when I hooked it up and used my hand to test it out.

I have a Brenspeed tune and still have the dead space. BTW, if you dont mind my asking, how much was the new pedal? Having the dead space makes me hate driving my car at times and I am ready to do whatever it takes to make it work correctly.

From what I have read, there's no 100% guarantee that a new pedal will be "proper" out of the box. But the new one cost me just under $50 from Yocum Ford in PA: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...?siteid=214259
To comment on this, I have a 08 GT and I have lag / dead-space in the pedal. I notice this usually and I thought it was normal or that I'm sometimes shy on pressing the gas pedal.
My car is bone stock with OEM tune.

I have an 08 Gt and I didn't think I had any throttle lag. Then I got a SCT tuner with custom tunes. WOW, what a differance. I did have throttle lag, my sore neck the next few days affirmed that. And also, the fact that my wife hates the way my car reacts now also proves of the loss of throttle lag.
I do have a custom tune from Brenspeed called "snow/wife" tune. It works for both snow & wife, smooth shifts.
