06 GT vs. C5 (Throttle problems, anyone else have this?)

Coming back from lunch with a buddy of mine and got to a light near work and this C5 pulls up next to me. I pulled out and got the exhaust really loud indicating i wanted some, he heard the exhaust and looked over, and he nails it.

I immediately started pulling on him and got 1/2 in first pulled second and got another 1/2 on him and had to shut down for the next light (really short on this street).

The next light he was more ready and we both launched and initially he started to pull on me but I hit second and started pulling on him again and went to third and shut down.

At the third light there was some traffic so we couldn't get lined up again and he started to come over into my lane to have more room to slow down but I have some good pads and stopped pretty quickly.

After my day yesterday at work I was dying for a pick-me-up and am glad he obliged me....

Something odd though.... I could have sworn I heard a "pshhhhhhhhh" sound when he shifted. (bypass valve for s/c?)

eh.. either way I pulled on him twice.

My LS1 had a similar sound. I always thought it was the plastic intake manifold. I didn't have a S/C.

Im kinda surprised you beat a C5 with just a tune and exhaust. Not saying it didnt happen, it just surprises me, have any of you other S197 guys beat C5s?

my guess is he was a bad driver with a stick.

I pulled on him both times and was very surprised... his expression on his face was one of disgust at the third light and confirmed to me that he tried.

Good Kill...I think Cai/Tune 05+ GTs should be able to hit low 13s driven correctly, and that is about what the older C5s will hit in stock trim. So the kill sounds legit to me.

race sounds sketchy, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, nice kill!

From a stop I have pulled C5's (non Z06's) to around 70-80 MPH. From there they catch-up and start to pull away. I'm sure at speed, the outcome would look different.

I've played with a few C5's before. It probably was a bad driver with a stick. If memory serves, the auto C5's were running the same as the sticks w/ professional (R&T, C&D) drivers. So I'd believe it's definately possible for a properly driven GT to take a C5.

Congratulations on the C5 kill. A win is a win, whether he could drive or not.

So the other day I blew by a Ford GT in my Crown Vic like it was standing still.

It was parked in a showroom. Does that count as a kill?

I use to race my buddy in his auto C5 with Borla X-pipe/CAI/tune. My car is an auto and had a tune/CAI. The races were very even ....50-150 mph. Whoever got the better jump usually won.
