Which car will be faster the current lightning or the 05 GT?

 

Hmmm...I don't have a clue...but that shouldn't stop me from voicing an opinion.

Seems like the power to weight ratio in the GT should be better (though I wouldn't wager on that or anything), so maybe the GT?

Anyone with a clue?

I'd say the two vehicles would be close competitors.

 

the lightning might take you from gas station to gas station faster... what does it get 12/15 mpg... IF u can keep your foot out of it.. which i doubt i could.

 

Gts have been getting spanked by lightnings for some time now.

The next gen lightning will crush a GT stang but not the GT supercar, be real.

That brings up a good point... we are talking 05 MUSTANG GT, right?

If so, I'd say a Lightning would still spank the 'stang. That is, of course, if the 'stang has only 300 hp. It would be a different story if it has closer to 330.

 

The lightning will have more then 500

 

In what mad world would a pickup race a muscle car? I can't...agh...must stop...putting ridiculious engines...in utility trucks.

Ah, probably the lightning, and you can haul a lot more groceries too...

 

last time i drove a lightning i couldnt get the seat back far enough to be comfortable... and even if i was a truck guy i wouldnt buy a regular cab.

Looks like the "Ranchero" has Falcon blood, not 'Stang blood.

 

It was shown at the Mustang show here at a dealership...no other car models were there. So

 

I wan't trying to make a scene. Just stating that the panels on the car look like Falcon. Heck, I've been wrong in the past!

Anyway . . . it is COOL!

 

The new regular cab is over 6" longer with 4 doors now, at the seat base there is more then a foot of room behind the seat at its furthest point back. B)

 

same here, which is why i have my crosshairs on this one:



four door super crew, basically an SUV with a bed, and a supercharged 5.4 similar to the lightning. as i understand it, the lightning has a better set of heads and a better computer program, but that's the only difference

last summer, my grand prix club was heading in the country to a car show when one of these guys started messing with us...it was all i could do to keep up with him, and my GP runs 13.9 in the quarter.

 

Ok, straight up, the current Lightning WILL beat the new Mustang, maybe not from the line but from about midrange to topend. The quartermile times are but a few tenths off. The new GT is rumored to run 13.4 and a tad quicker/slower but the Lightning will edge it out. Now the New Lightning coming out will obliterate the new Mustang hands down (as well as a certain Mopar performance truck out now).
