How do you figure? Car & Driver lists the 0-60 for the STi as 5.1 seconds.

Please don't go strictly on mag testing

Sorry, can't afford to buy one of those ugly things.
Well, if you are going to go on mag tests, go on a test of the right car. [/b][/quote]
What car are we talking about??? I thought we were talking about the Subaru Impreza WRX STi. That article is talking about the 300 hp version, is there a more powerful version that I am not aware of?

This Enzo tried to race me; I just rolled my eyes and told him that he was out of his league.

My most rediculous challenge ever was when I was driving my Father's Landcrusier with 7 other people in the car and a guy pulled up next to me in a Caravan loaded with people also. He hung out the window laughing saying "want to race." I will race pretty much anything with more than one wheel :drive: so we both took off with the combined about 13 people between the two cars laughing. We one but it was pathetic.
I know it wasn't in my GT but I thought it was funny enough to be worth mentioning.

Too many to count for me any more I don't even waste my gas, well except just a quick rev to 5-6000 rpms to make most would be racers shy away.

You quoted "the STi Type RA Spec C rips to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds".

The STI Type RA Spec C is not 300HP. Its also not the car that you can go buy at the local lot either.

Had a Honda Prelude, probably a mid 90's model, fart can, stickers all over it, spinner rims, challenge me this morning. I honestly didn't know whether to laugh or put him in his place, so I did both. Was quite satisfying hehe

The STi runs a quarter mile in the low to mid-13's, when you said in the 12's what version are you referring to?

Car and Driver - 13.5
Motor Trend - 13.3
Road and Track - 13.3

It depends how you drive it. Dropping the clutch at 5k produces a sub 5 sec 0 to 60 and 12's. Go check a subie fourm if you want more info. As I said, I am not a fan of them but I have no doubt they can take an 05. Especially since it does not tkae much skill due to it being AWD.

Some silly Chebby truck tried to show me who was boss today.......
We were at a redlight, and he kept inching up and bouncing.
When it hit green I was gone before he had it out of first.........
Silly truck.

I agree that it's possible for an STi to beat a Mustang GT, I just don't think it would be a cakewalk. I also agree that it's not a weak competitor by any stretch of the imagination. Not sure why AWD making it easier while driving in a straight line. Are you talking less wheel spin during launch on the AWD? I can buy that. An AWD car also has more drivetrain loss than a RWD, so both the Mustang GT and the STi are 300 hp at the flywheel, but the Mustang should have more power where the rubber meets the road. Then again the STi is lighter than the Mustang. It should be a good race.

maybe.....but regardless as to who gets to the finish line first, you know the girl sitting in the passanger seat of the STI will get out and get in the 05.

I wouldn't say this was a ridiculous challenge...but I had two other people in the car with me....and a brand new G35 pulled up next to me at the light.

I got a littler nervouse..as I am still getting used to this car...and I have seen one walk my friend's m3 before.

I decided what the heck...as he reved.

Light turned green...and I got the jump my 3/4 car length.....but then I missed 2nd gear. grrrr. I found second and got on it as he was a good car length ahead of me. shifted fien to third and passed him with ease. he backed off at about 70-80.

I waited for him at the next light. he just looked at me and nodded.

count it. one G35 WITH 2 people in my car.

Ok I have to get back in this since I posted the original commetn that started this, the brand new WRX STi has 300 HP the WRX STi WR1 has 320, the previous 03 and earlier STi have only 265 HP, this is the one I meant, sorry I wasnt specific, but I have also raced the new STi, some punk kid has a black one around here and thinks he is GOD (there is nothing but teenagers around here driving these things), anyway this was an even match, but it did come down to the driver and I took him off the line and held a car length on him the whole time, the one I orignally mentioned was a kill by over 3 car lengths, again another teen. The Z28s I mentioned, not sure which engine dont know much about cameros, but I do know that they were the newest models, the two that I was refering to and smoked them no prob. The best match I had was against an mid 90s modded Z28 and that was neck and neck, but I managed to edge it out off the line at first and then at top speed.

As for it beating the M3... I highly doubt it.
I don't. Is it a E36 or E46? Dinan?

EDIT: Just saw your sig...my bad. E46 with SMG-II would come down to a driver's race imo.

My friends have matching E36 Dinan Stange 2(or 3...not sure...no turbo or supercharger)...and I can walk them.
